My Beautiful Girl was born at spot on 41 weeks, exactly the same as her two Big Brothers!!!
I had a few pains yesterday morning, but as this was nothing new I just kind of presumed they'd go. At about 9.30 I decided to time them and they were 3.5 minutes apart and gaining in Intensity.
Phoned the Midwife and they said they'd get someone out to check on me.
Midwife arrived at about 10.50 and checked me over.
I was 4cm dilated and waters bulging so she did a membrane sweep and blood pressure pulse etc.
At this point the told me that for the first time in 3 years the Home Birth service had been suspended due to lack of staff, but as I was the only lady on the books so to speak they would provide an Ad-hoc service, but I may see a few different Midwives depending on how long we were.
So first I had senior MW, an assessment MW and 2 students. They looked at Noah while I waited for my mum to come!! Mum arrived at 11.50 ish and I was having contractions every 3 minutes, She took Noah and then Rick arrived home.
I laboured around the house, pottering around for a bit. At about 12.30 2 new MW came to switch over Another senior MW from a different team and MW they pinched from BRI labour ward!
I felt very privileged they did this for me!
Pains gradually got more intense, I laboured stood up which was great, with my hands on the mantelpiece! gradually they got to 2 mins apart and by 1.25 they were non stop.
I suddenly felt very hot and like I couldn't do it any more!! This was obviously transition cos I knelt down on all 4's against the settee and felt the urge to push.
Push one broke my waters at 13.35 and 2 pushes later at 13.37 Saskia Rose made it earth side!!!!
No pain relief at all. Didnt even get the chance for Gas and Air!!
No tear or anything just a small graze!!
After she arrived the MW bathed us both and snuggled us up on the settee.
Home Birth is amazing! I would reccommend it to anyone.
She's breastfeeding well and slept great last night. Beautiful
Few Piccies!
