I just made one- It was delicious!!!!
Now, I'm not sure on the pie tin measurment, but I know I could easily spread my whole hand in it (if that counts haha!) Basically you just need the filling to take the whole tin!!
You need;
(based on two people)
5 thick cumberland sausages
1 medium onion
1 420g tin of baked beans
a handful of finely grated mature cheddar
2 rashers of bacon
a roll of 'ready rolled' shortcrust pastry for the lid (no actual case around this pie!)
(if you would prefer it to have a potato lid then obviously use mashed potatoes with salt and pepper with some extra cheese) you can also use non ready rolled pastry-or your own pastry, its just because im lazy haha!!!
Optionals which taste great in it:
a small teaspoon of Tabasco sauce
1 teaspoon of chilli powder
salt and pepper
Anyway.
Pre-heat the oven.
lightly grease a tin.
Cut the sausages, bacon and onion into chunks and fry in a little oil untill brown around the edges.
Mix with the beans, cheese, seasoning, tabasco sauce and chilli powder.
Pour into the tin.
Make a pastry lid and place on top (dont forget to make two little vent holes in the middle!
Bake in the middle of the oven untill the pastry is medium brown.
We had ours with chunky chips and lashings of ketchup- yum yum!!!
Good winter food!!!
