Scan report details etc could somebody please help!!??

I've posted threads and never really had the reply I was looking for so to break it all down may make it less confusing,

Firstly found out I was pregnant DEC 3rd 2010!!
First dating scan on Jan 18 2011 dated me at 11weeks 4 days pregnant,LMP was OCT 30th 2010,However my cycles are never 28 days if so its very rare that it happens.....My Anomaly scan on 15th March 2011 dated me again at 19 weeks 4 days pregnant and still stuck with the same due date so no dates were changed,However I'm confused about the whole 2 week deduction theary? and how to work out my conception date,If i count back from 5th AUG (EDD) I land on NOV 5 2010,If i deduct 2 weeks from this 2 land me on the 38weeks that I got told about,Would this be the week or so that I concieved or have I got this whole thing wrong? If someone could help it would be great as I'm finding it hard to enjoy pregnancy with this always been at the back of my mind

Why do you need to know conception date??? When they date your pregnancy and give you a due date it is pretty accurate. Usually people only know their conception date if they are actively trying to conceive and are charting, using OPK's or are on fertility drugs. But even then the date doesn't matter....they just happen to know it.

I think the reason you might be struggling to get a reply is that you are posting in "Gestational Complications" - this isn't a complication of your pregnancy, the women posting here are usually facing difficult situations or problems

Although the estimated day of conception is literally the day you first become pregnant, most people don't count pregnancy from that date because there's no way to know for sure which day you really did ovulate and then conceive, sperm and eggs last for around 5 days so there is a window in which time they can meet and fertilise.

Most Dr's/midwives use the first day of your last period – a date that more women can pinpoint for certain. Then they count forward 40 weeks from that day to find your due date. (On the other hand, if you count your pregnancy from your estimated date of conception, your due date will be only 38 weeks from that day.)

So most doctors will tell you that you've been pregnant for about two weeks longer than you really have been as pregnancy only lasts 38 weeks.... however less than 5% of women give birth on the due date and if it's your first you may go over by 2 weeks, just because your baby doesn't care about dates and will pop out when they want..

You had your first dating scan on Jan 18 2011 dating you at 11weeks 4 days pregnant.

11weeks and 4 days before that takes you to the 30th Oct 2010 which is your LMP.

So that is working on the basis that you have 2 weeks of this that you weren't pregnant but they don't know when you did the deed and then when the sperm met the egg which isn't the same date that you do the deed normally (it can happen days later when you are doing your shopping or watching TV oblivious...

However in the first and second trimester the scans are pretty much 99% accurate for dating purposes (even to the point of the heartbeat rate can tell you how many days old the baby is).

You probably concieved around the 12th of November and only realised on the 3rd of December when you were a week late for your period which you probably expected around the 26th November...?

At which point you were 3 weeks gestationally pregnant but a Dr would have classed you as 5 weeks...

Why are you unable to enjoy the pregnancy without knowing the date of conception??

I had a similar problem but then when all the pregnancy related problems came along i really didnt care what date I had as I was just hoping our baby survived, enjoy your pregnancy and you rbaby will come when the time is right xx
