Hello ladies, I am 26w4d pregnant... For the last few weeks I have been getting what feels like bad stomach ache... Every day... I kinda brushed it off because I do have ibs and thought it might just be that... But it usually comes and goes whereas this comes and goes a lotttt in the day.. I have been to a&e about this but they said I sounds like abit of gastrointeritis....I have also been getting a funny heart complaint for the past month.. Where I will be sat at my desk at work and all of a sudden my heart will just start racing and beating out of my chest and It makes me feel weak and generally unwell.. I've been to a&e about it and they said it seems fine after various tests.. Anyway I'm seeing a consultant about that tomorrow (a gyny... For some Strange reason a gyny would be better suited for a heart matter than an actual heart specialist) lol! So that's that... But just these last few weeks my bad stomach ache has become more like pressure type pain in my middle belly and up to my ribs.. It can be quite sore.. and sometimes the pain is worse if the baby moves up and lies a certain way..?!!... Anyway I'm
Stressing myself out about preeclampsia and hellp... My blood pressure is always spot on.. More on the lower side than near high and havent had a uti since the very beginning of my pregnancy... I'm scared my placenta isn't working and that's why I'm getting pain... My mum had bad preeclampsia with me.. And that's made me worry too..does anyone have any similar symptoms or can help at all??... Ahh xx

Oh and also just recently I have been getting terrible heartburn.. (I've never had heartburn before being pregnant).. And it gets so bad I end up feeling it in my upper back and into my neck and jaw?...the pain can be soooo bad!... So that scares me about my heart.. Am I just going to die? Sorry for the dramatisation but why are all these things happening at once?... :-/

I'm sorry you're dealing with so much stress right now!

So, the digestive pain sounds pretty normal, especially if you already had IBS. Remember, your intestines are being squished up by baby and all, so there's less room for comfort. Definitely address it with you OB on the next appointment, but it doesn't sound too worrisome yet.

Same for the heartburn. I don't ever remember getting heartburn before my first pregnancy, either, but it was horrible after that. Yep, burning in the back, jaw, neck, chest ... Ugh. Remember, it really doesn't have anything to do with your heart, it's acid reflux from your stomach going up your esophagus, and the discomfort can radiate out. Make antacids your friend (I prefer tums)

As for the racing heart, I can see why that could worry you. It could be a stress, anxiety reaction. It could also indicate anemia (how long since your last blood iron level test? Are you taking a prenatal?). Getting more thoroughly checked is probably good, but I can see why they want you to see a gyn ... If it is related to pregnancy (ie no previous issues) the gyn probably has the right experience.

Try to relax. Stress can make all these issues even worse. Pregnancy causes a lot of changes, and some of them we never hear about until we're in the middle of it :(

Hang in there! And keep us updated ;)

First off, I just wanted to say that my placenta with my first baby had pretty much totally died by the time she was born, and there was no pain associated with that, so I wouldn't worry about the placenta.

The stomach pains sounds sort of like what I've been experiencing lately, and after keeping an eye on what I eat, I've realized that I've developed a bit of lactose intolerance, which I never had before, but now it leads to severe stomach cramping that will last for hours sometimes.

I also have problems with sudden racing heartbeat, but my OB has never seemed too concerned, and has just said that it's one of those things that some pregnant women have to deal with.

All of these things are, of course, good to bring up with your doctor, just in case, but like SonAmyMom said, anxiety is probably making everything worse. :hugs:

I also have had the racing heart. I had a full cardio exam for high BP back in 2012 and know that all is well- after asking several other pregnant women they all had this as well. My OB said it is normal and is part of the increase in blood volume.

Now that you're pregnant your heart has to work 30% more and can cause heart palpitations... Although it would be wise to mention it again to your MW if you're still concerned, it is really common!

I've had the racing heart too, and usually when I've just been sitting rather than active.

Also could the stomach pains be constipation? I got constipation and cramps mixed up early on.

Hope you feel better soon.

Could it maybe be some Braxton hicks? Like if you're having them it may make your heart race more? Possibly?

Cuz apparently we'll have them many times and sometimes not feel them until we get to the latter part of pregnancy.

But yeah I'd say obviously with less space inside it's going to cause some pains and heartburn. I'd definitely mention to the midwife if it's starting to bother you daily and you're worried xxx

Just wanted to chime in and say I've had the racing heart too. It feels like I can't catch my breath and I just have to sit there until it calms down, which is usually goes away within a minute or two. It's kind of scary but I was told it's normal too.

You're not dying. Lol but I know when you're experiencing a ton of new and weird feelings and pains it can make you worry! Like others said, bring up your concerns with your doctor but I'm sure you're fine! :)
