First of all - sorry for the rambling!

I came off the pill in January and started charting and temping last month and this month. I started noting down cycle length in March.

March - April - 48 days
April - May - 32 days
May - July - 39 days.
July - August - don't know yet but this is cd31 and 7dpo

I'm ovulating late in my cycle from cd 24-27/28 though ff had me ovulating on cd 31 and the af coming on cd39.

I've read lots of information on the net about people with long cycles not being able to sustain a pregnancy and should take agnus castus. But I've also read that agnus castus can shorten the luteal phase. I've read not to take agnus castus after ovulation but I'm never certain EXACTLY when I ovulate and neither does ff as it keeps moving my ovulation date!

I posted the other day if anyone had actually had a succesful pregnancy if they had long cycles and late ovulation but nobody seemed to. This makes me think I should take agnus castus. But part of me thinks that I should ttc without agnus castus as it may do more harm than good. But if I don't take it I might conceive on a late ovulation short luteal phase cycle and then miscarry which I obviously don't want to happen if I know I could have prevented it by taking some herbs.

Has anyone got any advice at all?

I would give yourself a few more month to let your body settle down, make sure your taking a good conception prenatel and if your cycles are still very long go to the Dr and explain .. generally if its a long cycle issue they will start tests from about 6 months TTC

Hi hun,

When I came off the pill it took over six months before my periods returned, then when they did they were all over the place. I mainly had long cycles but they were not regular.
I saw the doctor a number of times but I was just told that it can take a year or so for your cycles to settle down and to just be patiant. I didnt take any supplements but my periods did sort its self out. I have not heard of Angus Castus, I cant see it hurting but maybe give your periods a few more months to settle down. It will happen, and I know its very frustrating!!!

I would see a doctor before deciding to try this yourself, and if you do decide to go on Agnus Castus then only do so with the guidance of a homeopathic therapist or counsellor, who knows what to do and what you want to acheive.

There are a lot of advocates out there for Agnus Castus and it can indeed shorten your luteal pahse, but there are certainly some studies that show it can be detrimental to other hormone levels and even a mc risk. I personally have taken it in the past and have since been warned off it by my FS as it increases risk of other problems for me.

I guess with anything, there are those who will see the positives and those who will see the negatives.....hell even Ibuprofen is one of the worlds most contentious medicines, its side effects are astronomically disastrous if mistakenor abused, so the best advice I would give is, don't take it at all until you are 100% sure it is right for you!
