Hello everyone!

I'm married, 26 years old with no kids and was going to wait until I finished college to have a baby but recent events have made me question that.

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 5 months ago and I'm currently on Synthroid and while my levels are in the normal range I was planning to go to the doctor to see if we could get them even in better shape because I still feel sluggish.

I have always had regular periods. They are like clockwork, extremely regular. Problem now is my last "normal" period was August 1. After that the next two including the one I'm currently on have been very light. I am so scared because everything I've read about it talks about early menopause or infertility.

My first light period was Sept 1 and lasted about 3 days but very light. Had some discomfort on the lower left side of my pelvis. I went to the Dr. after 2 hpt and a blood test and all negative. He ordered an endo vaginal ultrasound and when those results came he said everything looked good. I had a 2cm cyst in my left ovary and he said that by the looks of everything I had ovulated, everything looked perfect and to expect my next period.

Like he said my af appeared yesterday. I had all my regular symptoms, low back pain, some mild cramp and pressure and she arrived. The problem is like the one before it's light.

I am so scared of what could be causing this. I really want at least a baby and I know I shouldn't be "googling" things because now I'm super depressed thinking I can't have kids and my Dr will tell me I have early menopause or something similar. I just want to know if that's really the only explanations light periods can have. I feel so hopeless

If anything is unclear, don't hesitate to ask because English is not my first language. Sorry if my post is confusing because of this

I never would have guessed English isn't your first language. I don't know much about hypothyroidism but a girl I used to work with had an underactive thyroid and was taking thyroxin (sorry, not sure if that's the right spelling). She was very slim as well. But her periods were really light and she is the most fertile person I know. Her husband just has to look at her and she's pregnant!!! What is your diet like? If you are underweight, that can cause light periods. When I used to go to the gym alot, mine were barely visible but there's nothing wrong with me and I've had my CD5, CD21 blood tests, lap and dye and HSG. Well at least they all showed nothing wrong.

With regard to early menopause, have you had any blood tests? I think a CD5 one can tell if you are close to the menopause. Good luck and hopefully someone else might be able to help a bit more than I can. Good luck x

First of all I would stop worrying. The drugs you are taking for your thyroid could be affecting your af.

What I would do is some ovulation tests for a couple of months. If you get positive results, it means you are most likely ovulating. The other thing to check is the size of your womb lining towards the end of your cycle. Because at the end of the day the af bleed is just the lining shedding. So if it's thin there would be less blood. And a fertilized embryo wouldn't be able to implant.

But there's drugs to cure all of that. Im sure you are perfectly fine! And yes, definitely DO NOT google anything :dohh:
