I had a scan on Weds which puts my baby at 8+4 today. They also found a subchorionic hematoma which is bigger than the baby at about 2.5 x 2.5 cm. Baby's CRL was 18.4 mm I think. I am on 150mg aspirin a day for a clotting disorder which only develops in pregnancy (positive TEG test at St Mary's recurrent miscarriage clinic). Just wondered if there are any other ladies in a similar position? I know SCHs are quite common but obviously with my history of RMC and my age (43), I am a bit freaked out to add another risk to the mix. I haven't had any vaginal bleeding as yet. Not given much advice by the doctor, but I understand you should rest as much as possible, no lifting and no sex. Anyone had similar with positive outcome?

I had 3 separate SCH during the first trimester, actually two occured at the same time. I never did bleed out and I did not stop taking Aspirin. Infact, they only had me hold 3 doses of the injectable blood thinners I take twice a day. I did have to stop lifting heavy objects and go on bedrest. My baby is doing quite well now at almost 19 weeks and I have noe further restrictions.

Best of luck to you, hope things turn out well for you and babe!

Thanks babydrms. It's reassuring to hear they do resolve even when you're on blood thinners. Thanks for sharing your experience x

I'm in the same boat! I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks that showed a giant SCH, 5.3cm x 3.5cm x 2.5cm. I can barely find any info on people who have had such large SCHs this early on. All to say, I've made it nearly two more weeks without any bleeding. If I hadn't had the ultrasound I'd have no idea anything was wrong! I have another ultrasound on Friday so I'm really hoping it reveals the bleed is shrinking. So scary!

Hoping your scan shows the sch is shrinking and the baby is growing. I've got another scan tomorrow morming too. I've been really trying to rest up this last week to give my body a chance to sort it out. Really hope to see signs it is shrinking tomorrow. Fingers crossed for both of us xx

Just curious how your scan turned out? So far my little one is growing right on track, but the bleed in unchanged. I'm still happy with that, at least it isn't growing! The other good news was that it is as far from the placenta as you can get, it's anterior and the baby is posterior. I feel like I can finally relax a little (still taking it pretty easy though)!

That's great news. My baby growing too and bang on for dates at 10 weeks Friday. The sch has shrunk a lot too so i am feeling much happier. Not sure where it is exactly, they didn't say. They also said not to worry about it and to carry on as normal. They did mention that because I have a clotting disorder, lying around all day probably isn't a good idea but I do feel taking it easy has helped. Here's hoping they resolve quickly for all of us. Planning to start swimming again next week as I am going a bit crazy sat around at home all day.

I hear ya on the sitting around part! I didn't gain a pound till 15 weeks with my DD but I've already gained 3! I'm going to start exercising as soon as this clot shrinks! Congrats on the shrinking btw, that is great news!

I had an u/s at 6 weeks, no issue, no SCH spotted. Had my water break and bled at a little over 9 weeks (Nov 16) so I thought I miscarried. Had a follow up at the OB and and u/s this past tuesday and found a 1"x2" SCH... also, found out I'm still pregnant, baby measures 12 weeks. I've had no more bleeding, just brown spotting. Is that normal? I wish this thing would just absorb so I wasn't a nervous wreck all day lol.
