I think it depends on the school. Seeing a sample menu is a good idea

I was fed up of my son coming home and saying he has a cheese sandwich & a biscuit cos thats all that was left......£10 a week!!
hes been on packed lunches a week and at least now I get to see what he eats & can give him plenty of fruit & veg.
