School Places

Has anyone applied for LO's school places yet?

Do you know how far before September you find out if they've got a place or not?

I've applied for my sons nursery place for August not heard back yet. He turns 3 in August.

Aww I had a call earlier to say I needed to apply for my LO's infant school place - He's 4 in February, and they said they're sending me out the form and some information - He's growing up

You should hear back March/April. We have just seen the primary schools and will be applying soon. xx

I applied a couple of weeks ago, wanted to make sure I did it in plenty of time as I missed the deadline for my daughter and had to file the application at the Council House and they stamped a big red LATE on it. Luckily I still got a place at the school I wanted.

Did it online this time and will get confirmation of the placement in April.

My LO is not even 18 months and I have got her name down! Need to get in quick!

I'm guessing this is for a private school or a preschool place as you can't put your name down in advance anymore for state school Reception places in England.

Everyone has the same window of time to apply in your area - ours opened 5th Nov for next Sept entry and it closes in Jan I think. Then everyone finds out on the same date - normally March or April for that area.

Yup. Private school. They can only take 70 kids so we were told to put name down now! Not sure whether we will actually put her in but it gives us options!

I started to apply and it says they can't tell me the closest schools in my area as my address isn't on there (in their systems) but my neighbours is?! I put in my postcode and only 2 house numbers came up, and it said to call them up tomorrow to check they are expecting him to be applying - Well they phoned me so why he isn't in their systems I've no idea.

we've had our LO name on the list for ages too (also private school) but will also apply to the state school and we're undecided about which option to take.
