Warning: this is the unabridged version so there is some TMI towards the end lol!

Thursday 10 October
My due date and after weeks of false labour-type braxton hicks, losing bits of plug, monitoring every twinge and every possible indication that labour was imminent I finally relented - this baby was going to be overdue and I needed to just relax and get over it!

Friday 11 October
Woke at 4am with some pressure in my lower back - nothing to get too worked up about but I laid in bed and sure enough 15 mins later another small wave of pressure. I stayed in bed until 5am at which point I decided to go downstairs, have some breakfast and time them to see if things were finally kicking off.
Sure enough, *contractions were coming every 10-12 mins; I was fine breathing through them, I just leaned over some cushions and waggled by bum in the air. I watched a film, played candy crush on the iPad and generally tried to keep myself occupied.

At 8am I went up to wake my husband; I told him the contractions were 10 mins apart so no panic but that it was definitely early labour so we should probably get up, get our 2.5 year old up and get things together so we'd be ready for hospital - I wanted a waterbirth so I kind of wanted to keep things calm and relaxed rather than rushing around. My daughter actually came in at about 8.20 while we were still talking so she watched cbeebies while we discussed the plan of action, me stopping to breath through the contractions as they rolled in. I noticed they had started creeping closer together so at 8.45 it was action stations - I called central delivery suite to how far apart they should be before heading in, my husband brought my daughter down, got her breakfast and started on his cereal. He was halfway through his breakfast when I had a contraction that actually took my breath away a bit. When it happened again about 7 mins later he slowly put his spoon down and said he was going to go and get ready so we could get moving.

9.30 my husband bundled my daughter and all our bags etc into the car - the poor thing was dressed in her PJs, coat and wellies as I had informed my DH that things seemed to be progressing rapidly and that we needed to leave like now. As he packed the car things were moving a bit too quickly indoors, with the next contraction I felt the pressure move to my back passage (unfortunately couldn't quite keep a hold of my bowels either :/) and I realised that things were about to take a very surreal turn.
As he stepped back in the house I told him to go and get everything, including our daughter, back out of the car - he told me I was panicking, I told him I wasn't setting foot in the car and I needed to get upstairs now.
9.45 with Myka daughter Myks safely gated in the lounge watching Peppa Pig and eating raisins my DH bolted up the stairs - I had gone into autopilot mode, stripped from the waist down and got on all fours in the bath, spraying the shower head on my lower back to try and ease the pressure but all the while having no control of my bodily functions (oh the indignity!!). I told him to get my notes and call Central Delivery Suite to find out what we should do. He told me I had to turn to lay on my back and he needed to try and calm me through the contractions, the paramedics and midwife were on there way. I was utterly petrified (and obviously in a fair bit of pain!) and my DH did his best to get me to focus on him and try to calm down. Suddenly I felt the head moving down the birth canal, I had absolutely no control over the pushing, my body completely took over - my waters popped and I screamed at my DH that the head was crowning - he said to just try and keep it together until the paramedics arrived - pop, too late, head was out! Eyes wide, he then had to be coached by the midwives over the phone and delivered our baby onto my chest at (roughly) 10.07am. Despite being scared out of his mind, not to mention squeamish at the sight of blood, my fantastic DH, unhooked the cord from around baby's neck, cleared the mouth and thankfully we got a nice big cry. As he wrapped us in towels, I looked down and saw that we had a beautiful baby boy. Within 5 mins the paramedics were banging down the door - they clamped and cut the cord, checked my blood loss and my blood pressure etc and looked over baby. Midwife came next and baby was given to my husband for some skin2skin while *midwife delivered the placenta etc. Paramedics and midwife thankfully agreed that we didn't need to go to hospital so the ambulance left and, after being helped out of the bath and having a shower in my own shower opposite I hopped onto my bed in the next room where I breastfed and got stitched etc.*
By 1pm, the midwife had gone, I was downstairs in fresh pjs, eating toast and watching peppa pig with my daughter...and holding our gorgeous 8lb 5oz son!*

Welcome to the world Xander - we certainly won't forget your arrival in a hurry!!!!
