So I thought I wanted to try for a vbac but I think I have made up my mind to have another c section ... I wanted to know if second c sections have an easier recovery than emergency c sections ? Also wondering if having a c section at 38 weeks poses any more risk to baby than waiting for 39 weeks ? My doctor does c sections at 39 weeks usually but my son was over 8 lbs with SUA and I'm already big enough to be getting quite uncomfortable so I'm thinking of pushing for surgery at 38 weeks ( although my baby's health is most important to me ) what are your thoughts and experiences ?

I had a much harder recovery with the second section. Not sure why (first was emergency).

my second was harder, but then i didnt labour for either of mine and had complications after my second.(pph) Definately delegate :) i had to have a second section as they were worried about baby, but i know it was the right decision for me. I had one at 38 weeks because it was thought she wasnt growing but i had steroids first etc, doctors dislike doing them before 39 weeks so they may not agree. However seh came out fine at 38weeks

My second was a complete breeze compared to my first.

First was an emergency c section at 36 weeks due to baby having stopped growing and the placenta failing I felt terrible 4 months later wound was still opening back up, couldn't lift etc.

I was determined to have a VBAC with my second as my first csec was so awful recovery wise and I was so out of it for the first few days but my second baby also had IUGR but not as severe as first and no other issues so I had steroids and then a planned csec a couple days later and OMG it was a dream so relaxed, I was up 6 hours later walking to the loo etc, 4 weeks after op I was lifting my toddler with no problems, no infection and my wound healed lovely. I also didn't feel completely out of it at any point and it was a wonderful experience which I never would've dreamed of after my first.

My second section was fantastic. I was up and walking fine the next day and when I got home I needed no painkillers. I was lifting my toddler ( carefully!) by 3 weeks.

Both my sections were emergency and with both I was up and about within 24 hours and going for short walks within a week. With my second I was up on a soft play with my toddler within 4 weeks. I had no infections or issues with either.

Haven't had my second yet, but my first was born early at 35+5 (waters went for no apparent reason and he was breech, hence the c-section). His breathing was fine and the only issue was that his blood glucose level was a bit low - prob because I hadn't eaten.

Thanks ladies !! Since speaking with my doctor he had no issues with doing it at 38 weeks 2 days so im assuming all will be fine with baby Jaxon as far as that goes :) I suppose theres no way to predict recovery and ill just have to hope sinfe I generally deal with pain well and heal fast that everything will go as smoothly as itndid the first time around. .. im much more at peace with the idea now and alot less freaked out!!
