Hey ladies
My gyno gave me three months of clomid, however i go back in Feb and see her she said if it doesnt work me and oh need to be referred to a fertility specialist!!

So if we get referred how long does it take in seeing the fertility specialist to actually starting say IUI????

I have had hsg test done all clear tubes, loads of blood cd2 and cd21 repeat time no ovulation, had ultrasound showed pcos, OH got below average motility on SA report but we gotta repeat test again before Feb hopfully it will improve with the extra vitims he is taking..

My question is how long will that make us wait, is there any more tests they may run which gyno hasnt..

I have read that if they have ran most tests already then you can pretty much be put on a list and wait for treatment to start..

By Feb time that will be like 20months of TTC and nothing!!

heya - that's strange that you've had all those done - before being referred to FS....

for a kent time-frame....

saw our drs for the first time, had s/a and normal bloods done + saw him again in 3 weeks.
He then referred us to FS.
Our first FS appointment was in just under 2 months - where we saw a nurse who went through our history and sent us away for ultrasound, HSG, CD3 and CD21 bloods and more S/A.
Now we're waiting for the 2nd FS appointment where they'll go through the results.

It'll be 3 months between 1st and 2nd FS appointment.
Sounds like you've had all the tests though - but they might make you wait another 3 months so you can put the :spermy: advice into action...

Hope this helps xxxx

The problem is people think a gyno is a fertility specialist and there not the way the gyno explained it is you get referred to them after 12months of ttc who look for slight problems like pcos they do the standard checks like hsg, SA tests, blood tests etc and try to assist you to get a BFP like with clomid (which is what i been given for 3 months)

She explained if the clomid doesnt work then they refer you on to a fertility specialist who will then look at other options to get you pregnant whether it be clomid and HSG injections, or IUI or IVF these are the people who decided what treatment is needed when you need further assistance..

So in a way i suppose if you been referred there already that a good thing, but as far as i knew in North West we go down the gyno route first and if not further look with BFP then they refer you.. However least all my tests would of been done and thats why my question was to ask if all tests been done then how long wud you wait to start a treatment like IUI???? Cause i have to go back to gyno in Feb if clomid doesnt work (god i hope it does) and if we go back she gonna refer us by time we get appointment through for F.S we prob been looking at TTC for around 20months..

bleugh - 20 months! that's such a long time.
Well I really hope the clomid works for you and like you said... if it doesn't then hopefully you can go straight onto IUI or ICSI or IVF - a bit more of a solid route.....
isn't it mad how the system varies so much between counties!

I got referred to the FS at St Mary's in Manchester in September 2009, went for my initial blood test and base scan at the beginning of October and now we've got our appointment to discuss the results and possible treatment routes on 1st December.

I'm not sure how long it may be after December until we can actually start to receive treatment though.

In the meantime we're just hanging on and trying to do all that we can.

Hi, we had our first FS appointment in December 08, I had a lap and dye in Jan 09 - there was no waiting list for that so it was pretty quick, then they left us TTC for 3 months after lap and dye but no luck. Had some follicle tracking scans still no luck, we were offered IUI and FS made referral for that in August 09 - we've got our IUI consulation with our chosen provider later this month but I don't think we will start IUI until December so all in all its taken us almost a whole year from first FS appointment to actually getting assisted treatment. Seems like such a long time when I look back but actually this year has flown by! I hope you don't have to wait too long x
