I am truly enjoying the second trimester this week. I've cut out sugary snacks & cookies as I felt I was putting it on too fast. I've switched to fruit, nuts & peppermint tea at night (instead of cereal & milk) & added some supergreens powder drink in the morning. Result...after a week I feel lighter & more energetic. I'm NOT on a diet, but am really focussing on nutrients & less sugar overall.
If I'm hungry in between meals I force myself to eat an apple before touching a bar or chocolate or cereals. It is helping to reduce my binge eating.

Do you have tips fr healthy filling snacks (esp fr evenings)? What do you eat before bedtime to prevent you from waking up hungry? I can ignore being hungry out of principle (you don't eat when sleeping)...but its not fun!

Hm an apple does not help me with hunger personally. If I am hungry and cooking I will sometimes snack on a bit of sausage, like cured salami sticks, or a piece of cheese so I can last until the meal is done. Even a boiled egg does the trick. Fruit only affects my blood sugar and is refreshing.

Usually a variety of foods will help you feel full and satisfied. A bit of fat, protein, carbohydrates. If one were to only consume fruits for example not all aspects of hunger and energy needs would be satisfied.

Foods like bread, pasta, rice can make you gain faster in large quantities.

My husband often tries to either not gain or lose a few extra lbs and what usually makes him fail is not satisfying all cravings ^^.
I never embarked on weight loss but I do get hungry between meals quickly and almost always snack on something ;).

Your a lot better than me I'm sooooo hungry all the time but I eat bad things like biscuits and crackers
I tried fruit but it didn't work so I'm trying to have things high in calcium like yoghurt, cheese string, cheese triangles, milkshake which I really love as they have to be healthier!

I eat quite healthy, again not a diet but because I prefer healthy food over sweet things. Occasionally I'll treat myself and again because I fancy it [like yesterday had some treacle tart!!] but my body does feel it the next day if I eat sweet/processed things. Personally my rule is don't limit what you want if its healthy, fruit although people complain is high in sugar it is healthy sugar. Again with calories and people saying an apple has the same calories as a bag of crisps... but an apple is better for the body than crisps if that makes sense.

That said I tend to start the day with branflakes, yes goes against all Ive just said as its processed but as I dont eat a lot of carbs etc [personally I don't eat bread/pasta/rice] but as I like to workout alot it gives me the kick I need [if I wasnt pregnant Id work out prior to breakfast]. Then between meals I snack on fruit eg: banana [not too many though!], apple, grapes, persimmons, melon, pear. Lean meat, hard boiled eggs, fish, beans/legumes comprise my main meals.

Also drinking water aids with digestion and feeling fuller so you might not want to snack after meals if you drink water before/during your meal.

I always think if I'm tempted by something which I know holds not purpose to my body being better ... if I'm hungry I'll eat an apple, if I don't want an apple then I can't be that hungry.

Hope that kind of makes some sense.

I can never get full with this pregnancy, I swear this baby is stealing all of my calories as soon as I eat something. When I was losing weight I did a lot of hard boiled eggs or snacks involving chicken (my favorite was cuts of chicken on a piece of bread with cheese) since protein is supposed to help you stay full longer. Drinking water non-stop seems to help too.

My go-to snacks are Keifer, pecans, and raisin bran with whole milk.

Mmmmmhh... Food for thought. Know fr sure that I've got to drink more. Sticking with my little organic granny smith apples, but thinking of adding some full fat Greec yoghurt into the equation in the evening. Mmmmmhh...

Include healthy fats (especially before longer stretches of not eating like bedtime) and protein paired with carbs. I'll have cheese and crackers, Greek yogurt with nuts or fruit, cottage cheese (full fat) with fruit, peanut butter with crackers or an apple, lots of veggies. Avoid simple carbs (white bread for example) and sugary drinks including juices. I was borderline gestational diabetes with my daughter and have a fast metabolism so I had to come up with a lot of snacks! Lol!

How about having some nut butter with your apples? I use natural peanut butter, it's just peanuts and salt. If you use something like Jif or Skippy, they add sugar. The protein helps you feel full longer. Another option would be a string cheese or slice of cheddar, etc. with the apple. Also a yummy combination that boosts protein.
