Hi! I was wondering if any of you lovelies could share some ideas for inducing labor at home. If I don't go into labor on my own within 2 weeks, I'm in for a c section. :dohh:

Any advice is welcome!

I honestly think that if Bub is ready then they will come. With that said, I was 100% effaced and 2cm dilated from 38 weeks - his head was so low even Dr's surprised I made my induction date.

I drank the raspberry leaf tea, ate raw pinapple, walked walked and more walked - had sex, ate spicey food. Lol - maybe my bubba was just stubborn, or too comfortable.

*cough* *cough*

You could always... I never did this of course....

But if you are dilated at all, run your finger around the edge of your cervix against the amniotic sac. If your body/the baby is ready, it will start labor.

I was 3 cm for weeks on end and effacing more and more. Finally I DTD and BAM went into labor two hours later.

walking, especially steps..

But nothing will just straight out induce labor... it only helps if your body is ready for it by working along with your body.

good luck :)

Walk! And try clary sage oil in your bath, I'm sure that's what helped mine!

sex, walking, EPO, RRLT...
i honestly wouldn't rush it.
i was so ready for James to come out and was going to try everything
then when he came at 37 weeks i would do anything to put him back in for an extra 3-5 weeks so I could get some more uninterrupted sleep. :haha:

I had a yoga ball that I bounced on for hours at a time! Also, scrubed the kitchen floor, drank 4 cups of RLT (that doesn't work to induce though, just strengthens the cervix) a day and walked up the stairs as much as possible. I dunno if any of it worked - my waters went 2 days after DD but had to be induced another 2 days later

Good luck huni!

de-stress worked for me on both accounts. With Adrian I was stressed because we were facing homelessness the month he was due, but once that stress was resolved I went into labour, and he ended up being 3 weeks early.

With Miles, I'd had four sweeps, and at my last the doctor said "If you're not ready it doesn't matter how many times we sweep, even with a cervix as favourable as yours." So I spent the afternoon with OH, spent money irresponsibly on stuff that made me feel good, voiced some concerns, and made a last ditch attempt to get my step-dad talking to me again (which he still isn't, :dohh:). Miles was born at 9:26 that night.

I hooverd everywhere, including lifting tables and rugs (naughty) scrubbed the bathroom and ate some spicy burgers which I smothered in extra hot chilli sauce, waters broke 11:30 that night and Flynn was born at 15:14 the next day one day before due date.
Cleaning and spicy did the trick for me I think.

Im going to try all of this from today :haha:

No but as other ladies have said, if your body isnt ready then none of it will work anyway xx

if ur baby aint ready it aint coming hun no matter what you do, i tried everything short of Castor oil ( which has some nasty horrible side effects to some people ) with both boys ds1 i had a long drawn out labor of 56 hours before assisted delivery at 40+13, i dont think he was ready to come out but i managed to trick my body into it and paid for it :dohh: with ds2 just stuck with evening primrose oil, rubbing clary sage into my skin ( with a carrier oil not pure ) and taking rasberry leaf tea capsules and was induced at 40+10

Why do you need to get a csection before you're even reached due date?

Why do you need to get a csection before you're even reached due date?

I am a type II diabetic and have slight chronic hypertension. He doesn't want me to go over due, I guess.

I think I will just wait her out. I rather enjoy her squiggling around in there. It's like a secret between the two of us. Soon enough I'll be sharing her with the world, but for now, she's just MINE. :cloud9:

The most convincing method I've read about is a mother who did nipple stim for 7+ hours! I researched this quite a bit because with my first I didn't go into labor before 43 weeks, then agreed to an induction. If we do it again I will still wait until 43 weeks but will try the extended nipple stim. For this woman she would get contractions withthe stim, which would trickle off when she stopped. So she kept it up until she hit progressive labor, which took about 7 hours. Then she was 5cm and it kept up without the stim.

Myself I tried castor oil, acupuncture, spicy food, jogging, acupressure. I would try the acupressure again but get someone else to do it, and do a long session.

I went into labour 2days early with DS, and I think the reason was because I was up tescos and had abig shop to do of everything. So I was hauling this heavy trolley around tesco's then my waters started to leak up there! I thought oh no, maybe I have just wet myself a bit but thought be on safe side get to a check out pay for stuff and get home. This was on the sunday and early hours monday morning by 2am I was in labour. Now I think it helped and will be doing the same this time round lol, so maybe give that ago. Goodluck

I forgot to mention I also had 3 sweeps! Those gave me contractions, but they always stopped when I went to sleep. There is a chance of your water breaking if you get a sweep, so think about that.

I had sex, tucked a pillow under me and raised my legs, I literally had my first contraction 10 minutes later! However, I was overdue by 4 days so he must have been ready anyway!

i asked my mw auntie today who said sex twice in 24 hours usually does the trick!

I heard that Fenugreek can cause contractions so guessing that may work. Also helps with milk supply as well.
I'll be trying that and Raspberry leaf tea if shes not here by 38 weeks. Which both DH and I are predicting at this stage. Although we were both 2 weeks late ourselves so wonder if that will have an effect at all.
