Self Pump or Electric

Hiya,

Im gonna be buying my pump next week and was wondering whats better you pumping boobs or electric, i was headin more to my own pumping as electric keeps poping into mind of being a cow, but i'll get over that though, as i want all my range to match im getting Tomme Tippee stuff, just wondered what everyones views are on which they prefer xxx

I exclusively express, and an electric pump is much better for me. I think it depends how often you'll be expressing. If it is a frequent thing, I'd get an electric pump. If it is only for the occasional outing, then a manual might be better. Some people like to use both as it can mean they get more, but I can get barely anything with my manual, but plenty with the electric one.

I know what you mean about being a cow! I express 8-10 times a day, for 30-40 minutes each time, and I have great sympathy for dairy cows!

i myself used an electric one, much quicker!! however quite expensive. ihad a phillips advent one, as come to think of it i haven't seen a tommee tippee one?
but electric one, highly recommended! esp if you express a lot

I express exclusively and use the Madela electric pump (not the Sling, just the regular one) As mentioned before, it depends how often you plan to pump. Because I do it exclusively, the electric one is great especially in the middle of the night. I can't imagine having to pump manually while still half asleep.

I have a Medela Swing electrig pump. It is excellent, but was a wee bit on the pricey side. It mimics the action of a baby sucking and so far, on one side at least, I am expressing huge amounts.

At 10 minutes each side, every 3-4 hours, I can't imagine using a hand pump or expressing without a pump.

However, I do have to resist the urge to go "moooo" when using it and do tend to refer to my breasts as "udders"

I think it depends on how much you will be using it. For Casen I had an Ameda Purely Yours double electric and it was awesome, I used ot pump for him to have bottles sometimes and also for things like his cereal. I used it quite a bit. But then with Hayden someone gave me a Medela manual one and I knew I didn't want him having any bottles at all but I did pump to have on hand in the freezer just in case anything happened, I also would pump if he needed cereal or when making his babyfood I would that to thin it out for him. I barely needed it so that worked out great, I liked it better, but if you are going to use it alot I would probably invest in an electric

Thats brilliant, thank you girlies, I will only be exressing every now and again if i go out without her like for my birthday my parents will be babysitting, so i wont need to do it very often, but with what your saying i think i may still go for electric as it seems easier and quicker than manual xxx
