Sending out invites?

When will you be sending yours out and how long before your actual wedding? I know "tradition" was 8-12 weeks beforehand i think, im not really sure when to send mine.

Im preparing everything ready over the next week, RSVP notes, Gift list notes, direction cards, collecting addresses, but i dont know when is the best time?

Obviously you need to give people plenty of notice, but how much is too much?

Did you do save the date cards?
If you did, I'd stick with roughly 2months before personally (unless there's any reason you'd need to know sooner, ie menu choices, 'extra' guests need paying for etc).

I think 12 weeks is perfect and I'll do save the date cards as well about a yr before.

Faille, i did STD cards about 9 months ago maybe?

I think i'll do then perhaps the 2nd/3rd week in June, so that it'll be roughly 10 weeks beforehand

I would personally go for it whenever you're ready. People are such nightmares sending RSVPs back, even when they're supplied with an RSVP card.

I still have some outstanding which were meant to be sent back by March 31st

I have just sent ours out but they were early for 3 reasons - we didn't send STDs rofl: thank god!!), all our guests need accomodation info early to get booked in so to save money we did that all in invites and also our wedding is on a Friday x

We havent sent STD as we got our date booked pretty quickly after we got engaged and verbally let everyone know when it was booked for. We get married mid-april, so will probably send our invitations out mid-Jan, to allow plenty of time for stragglers to book their accommodation (some of them have booked their rooms already). Plus it will brighten up an otherwise dreary month x

we sent our out 16 weeks before the wedding and gave a deadline for replies of 8 weeks before the wedding nowing we then had 3 - 4 weeks to 'chase' people up that didn't reply in time, and trust me you get alot of people that don't bother replying even if they are coming!

We didn't do save the dates instead we sent out our invites at the start of march/april (for the day people) and we will be sending our evening invitations before the end of june so it gives 8 weeks for people to reply.

We are sending ours out in early July having sent our Save The Dates in April (I think! )

Sending then as want them out the door before Missy arrives!

We sent ours in the middle of January and got married at the start of April- so about 8-10 weeks before hand. We didn't send Save the Dates. The invites that we did send were just for the day guests, we invited people to the evening reception by word of mouth and Facebook!! I wasn't particularly organised by the end! The evening guests got about a month's official notice. Everybody we wanted to invite knew they were and to which part of the day (except for a few friends who were invited to the day when they thought it would just be the evening!) though from about the time that we booked just under a year ago, so we didn't really make too big a deal of it! It was a mid-week wedding too- a Wednesday!

We haven't sent STD cards so I am sending all mine out this week, although some family memebers already have theirs and we have their RSVP's back too.

But we have asked everyone to RSVP by the end of July so we can confirm the numbers with the venue and make a start on table plan and favours etc xx
