Hi everyone!

Just wondering if anyone has been "blessed" with one of these?

For those who don't know what I mean it is basically a line of tissue that separates my opening into two holes. One side is more comfortable than the other as its been more stretched with intercourse etc.

Just wondering has anyone had this and how has it effected their labour? Slightly worried about this increasing labour pain at the pushing stage, have a consultant appointment next month to discuss.

Thanks everyone xx

I dont think it will be an issue, but dont be surprised if it looks different after childbirth. I could never see much of my hymen until after I had my first baby. The first time I looked down there I was like WTF! There was like a big bulge of muscle type tissue right in the opening seems to completely block it. Went to get my first pap smear since (with my OB) asked him if it looked normal and told him my concerns. He said what I'm probably referring to is my hymenal remnant? Never heard of such a thing, but he says its normal. Apparently it can stretch or break and leave you with all sorts of possible hymanel rings, including the type you have. Judging by what i've read I would say I have a big hymenal tag? Who knew. I had some labial grazing but no tears and he said everything healed normally so im guessing its always been that way I'm just able to see more of it now because the openings a bit bigger. Just really surprises me that I was able to push a baby out of there, because like I said it looks like it completely blocks the opening of my vagina, but apparently it stretches along with everything else because I didn't have any issues. I gave birth totally un-medicated and it hurt, but pushing her out was surprisingly not the most painful part. The pain of pushing her out was incredible short compared to the hrs of contractions that come before, it was actually a huge relief, not at all as scary as I expected :)

I've read that having a baby can totally obliterate the hymen and that's normal but I've also read that that it can be repaired along with everything else in the event of a big tear, so I'm a bit confused about it now, let me know what you find out!

Thanks so much for your reply!! Usually a hymen tag occurs if you have had thick line of tissue, like mine. So who knows maybe yours broke during the birth? Glad to hear your pain wasn't as bad as u expected with it. I'll keep u updated xx
