when did your breast feeding get past the eyes-watering-teeth-gritting stage?

is it normal to feel like you cant go on? It just seems madness that we have to go through all this pain...seems like mothernature made some some of design error. UNless its just me? I know one of my friends never had any pain.

I've had a few lacttaion experts advise me adn I think I'm doing it right...but oooooouuuuuuuuch!

Cracks and burning nips and achey boobs are a way of life now..

I always hurted... Pumping was painful! I've got such sensitive boobs it's ridiculous though. xx

I'm not sure hun, because it only really hurt with my first, and then it only hurt for a few days until i had my latch right. Cracked nipples are usually caused by an incorrect latch, so if i was you i wuld have another word with someone qualified. Don't suffer in silence, because breastfeeding should not be painful. Good luck!!

I think it took about 6 weeks with my first, quicker with my second. I went on to bf 2 years with each, so it does get better, honest! Are you using anything on your bbs? I know midwives recommend popping a bit of milk on your nips after a feed and letting the air get to them.... I found Kamillosan to be great though, it really helped. Can't hurt to talk to your health visitor or something though if it's getting you down.
Good luck! xxx

I was in pain for the first two months - cracked/bleeding nipples, mastitis and thrush one after the other. But once it settled down it became a breeze - till the teeth made an appearance, but that's another story lol

I only just became mostly pain free a week or ten days ago.

There's still a bit of toe curling on the first part of the feed until letdown occurs for me.

hang in there

6 weeks for me. Lots of Lanisoh/kammilosan helped. Frankie is 19 months now so it does get better, honest :)

I think it was about 6 to 8 weeks for me. My left side was ok after the first 6 weeks as Sam seemed to find latching on to that side much easier. The right one was so badly cracked and took ages to heal...felt like crying every time he was going to feed on that side.

Loving it now though... it will get easier x

same here!

thanks ladies.

I'll try and not give up hope then...the right is showing signs of a new crack this morn which is lovely. the left is beign a trooper and behaving but typically thats the side with less milk.

Lets hope the day gets less painful :-)

im sorry to say it only hurt me the first week of bf now i dont get any pain at all and jacknow weighs 11lb 7oz

Took a couple of weeks for me. I'd cry at just about every feeding. I ended up watching a latching video at kellymom.com at 3am out of shear desperation. It helped a TON! It's a great breastfeeding website. Good Luck!

It still hurts now sometimes if he's beeing lazy and wont get on properly or if he's really windy and moves his head around alot, buy some lansinoh if you havnt already, i dont think i'd still be breastfeeding if it wasnt for that it helps sooo much and my nipples arnt cracked or bleeding anymore! but it stoped hurting so much i wanted to cry at about 3 weeks i think!
