hi ladies

Just wondered what your thought were on my results. I had the combined NT/bloods done 2 weeks ago and got the results last Thurs. Basically, the midwife on the phone was relucatant to explain anything and it's only through my own, obsessive Googling that I have any answers!

b-HCG - 3.92 MoM
PAPP-A -1.01 MoM
NT measurement - 1.5mm

I've read numerous things now saying that a HCG level like this is WAY high! Now I'm terrified and don't know if I should be reading the results as 'combined' or if the high HCG level is really a cause for concern.

My overall risk came out as 1:210 and I'm 36. We've now decided to go for the amnio and I'm stressed beyond belief.

Anyone else had something similar??

Hiya, my combined test result was 1/150 I am just 34. we decided to go for a detailed scan where they look for 'soft markers' before having the invasive amnio. They did not find anything in scan to cause further worry. maybe try this first. good luck x

Try not to get too stressed, firstly the tests you've had done are screening tests and not diagnostic. The bloods can be out if your dates are wrong. Your nt was fine. Your risk because of your age is 1:294 so its not increased dramatically. My bloods gave odds of 1:246, i was the same age as you, i had a detailed scan and because of some uncertainty about the heart i opted for an amnio. I now have a very healthy 17 month old daughter. I know that 1:210 doesn't sound very much when other girls are celebrating their 1:4000 etc but if a horse was running with those odds you'd not be expecting it to win would you? Take a deep breath and think very hard about what you want to do and remember the odds of an amnio causing a miscarriage are more than the odds of your baby having downs. Good luck xx
