Just wondering when it is safe to have sex after a section? Do i wait 6 weeks? Can i do it sooner?? Do i wait longer!?

Any help would be appreciated! :)

You could do it sooner than 6weeks if your feeling upto it.
i would wait a few weeks just to be safe though. i waited 4.5weeks first time. x

I must be honest .. I didn't wait the full 6 weeks. 3 1/2 weeks for me.

Doctors will recommend 6 weeks to avoid risk of pushing bacteria up near your cervix, your uterus could become infected since it is still healing. But many women start way earlier than that. My doc said wait one week after bleeding has stopped. My bleeding stopped at 2.5 weeks.

Just be careful when you do it. I did it 2 weeks after the c-section. And 10 weeks post baby I was pregnant again.

We waited 3wks (2wks from when we left hospital) because that is when I got the ok for baths and things. I could take showers but not baths. I figured that way it would help with preventing an infection. That was my main worry was getting some sort of infection because it takes time for your cervix to close even with a c-section. we both washed really well immediately before and then I did again immediately after and of course used a condom. It will hurt at first not g2 lie but it will get better much better fast if you keep at it. My vagina was just very tight and that was where my discomfort came from. I didn't have soreness after in my belly or anything as long as we took things slow.

wait for your lochia to stop. if you are BFFing then yeah once your lochia stops go for it but with me FFeeding I got my period five weeks pp so we DTD six weeks pp and it hurt the same as did during pregnancy because my cervix was still inflamed, then we tried again at week 7 then week 8 then 9 and now at almost three months its stopped feeling sore and is just okay, but that is due to my cervix, it is like being a virgin again though butg i am thankful my vagina was not stitched or ripped into that would have been worse but yeah its taken three months almost for sex to feel normal

It's still reccomended to wait 6 weeks after a c-section because your cervix still went through changes so you need to keep bacteria away from their and from entering your uterus.

We only waited 2 weeks... We used condoms to try to make it more cleanlier and to prevent another pregnancy right away.

We want two in a row so pregnancy not an issue. I'll wait for bleeding to stop and then see where we're at. 6 wweeks seems v excessive.

Im hoping bleeding stops soon and then scar feel better, still a little sore but not bad considering 1 week post op :)

Just be careful. It is not recommended to conceive too soon after a c-section because you run the risk of your uterus and scar rupturing. I would talk to the midwife or dr. you see 1st to see the minimum they suggest to be on the safe side

talking about waiting on a preg not sex. I say go for it whenever you are ready just make sure you try to keep yourself as clean as possible, like sterile clean :winkwink: :haha:

My lochia lasted 5weeks, I waited till 8wks... It was very uncomfortable.

We dtd at 8 days.. Was too tender for deep penetration, Just took it really careful. Waited to try again til 2wks, was fine. Bleeding stopped a few days later anyways.

If you are up to it, go for it. We werent even told anything about using condoms to prevent infections, but still never had a problem. He pulled out, so no worries of another pg.

so long as you wait for your bleeding to stop i think its okay. mine hasnt stopped and its been four weeks so you could end up having to wait anyway!

Yes I was going to say just becareful, I fell pregnant 11 weeks after my csec. I'm just recovering from my second csec as I had another due to worrying about rupture having two pregnancies close together as Darlin65 said above.

I have to say the second csec isn't as comfortable and my scar has become infected this time so just a couple of things to bear in mind for the future xx

We had sex 3 weeks after my section but didn't use protection. I had been told not to get pregnant for 1 year after section due to scar (was my 2nd) so contacted GP. Was given morning after pill, even though I was breast feeding every 3-4 hours, because I used t get pregnant very easily.
