....it doesn't work! The milk just sprays everywhere :dohh:

I looooove my Dr B bottles cos they've helped Kia's wind problem so much, but it's such a faff... cos I now make up each feed in a Tommee Tippee bottle, shake it, then pour it into the Dr Bs cos they can't be shaken. On the instructions for the bottles it says to stir but that doesn't seem to mix the formula properly...

How do you all make up your feeds with Dr Browns bottles?

I've always shaken our Dr Browns; and haven't had any problems, as long as the anti-colic rubber bit and funnel are in the bottle. I don't see why you can't

I always shake mine, I just make sure I'm not over line and that the rubber thing is lined up right.

Hmmm... the milk sprays out everywhere when I do it and I do the things up tightly! *sigh*

We were never able to shake ours, we used to make them up and shake them in a different bottle then pour into the dr browns

When i used them with J i used to swirl the bottle quite fast for a while rather than shake...basically twirl the bottom part of the bottle in a circle. They do tend to make a mess when shaken as there are air vents in extra parts....so milk comes out from there.
Other option is to wrap the bottle in a towel to shake.

xx

what i do is use a small plastic spoon to sir the milk then sterilize its bit of a pain but does the job.

I shake them. They do leak but I can't get the formula to mix without shaking. I just wrap a piece of kitchen roll around the neck to catch most of the leakage.

I love them / hate them.
They do the job but they leak like crazy.
I make them up in another bottle and store milk in another bottle when on the move, they are a pain even with them stem out.
BTW they say you shouldn't shake, rather swirl the milk so not to create frothy air in them (so I read)

I swirl them for a good 10 seconds, but I don't know how many times I've had hot milk splash out onto my hand. They are a bit of a pain but they are great bottles.

i mix with a baby spoon.

they have really helped my lo with wind!

I shake them side to side and round and round rather than up and down and it doesn't spill as long as lid is on tight it's fine.
Do u heat with the lid on then shake? If so the pressure of the heat makes them leak so that may be why?

The hotter they are the more prone they are to leaking, as there is more pressure. What I used to do was loosen the lid a bit, then in one action turn it upside down and tighten. Then I could shake it upside down without it leaking. I used to wrap a tea towel round it too, just in case I got the timing wrong!

I dont use that make but my Avent ones do the same and its driving me nuts!!

We bought the travel lids for them (you screw on without the tube or nipple) so I usually shake with those and have not had any leaks.

I do this too! Pop the cap on, swirl vigorously rather than shake, but coz the lids on it wont splash on2 ur hand! If u shake, it makes it all bubbly, which defeats the object of reducing air in the milk!

I've bought some off ebay to try them out! I understand that swirling is better than shaking cos of air bubbles, but the instructions on the Aptamil box say to shake for 10 seconds :dohh:

haha yeah.. when LO was on Similac formula we had to stir and swirl bc of the bubbles, but now we use an store brand version and no bubbles when you shake :happydance: so no more chunks of formula during middle of the night bottles!

i have noticed tho if the milk is rather hot itl tend to spill out everywhere where as if its cool it doesnt..x

I use a long baby spoon to stir formula.
