Hey girls, I have read that muscle spasms and pain are normal in pregnancy, especially in the legs, but have any of you experienced it this early?? Just about every night while I'm trying to sleep, I get a very sharp pain in my calf right below the back of my knee. It is so intense, it feels like someone is stabbing me!! And it wont go away, unless I sit there stretching my leg out back and forth. Last night I woke up crying because of it, and my poor DH tried to help, but touching it makes it worse. Anyone else experiencing it? I've heard potassium helps, but not sure if thats true, as was from my dad, and pretty sure he has never been pregnant. If anyone else knows what might help, PLEASE let me know. Thanks!!

:hugs:

I wish I could help you out with an answer, I haven't had that yet but I found this online, it seems pretty normal.

Hope that helps hon, if it still worries you. I'd just give my doctor a ring for reassurance :hugs:

My mother has these as well. I have also heard about potassium helping.

Thanks Jenny! That basically is exactly what I experience. I've been eating things with lots of calcium, just cause I've been craving it. I'll have to start eating more bananas too and see if it helps. If it continues I may ask my doc when I see her, but not til mid Dec. Thanks girls! =)

My pains in my legs turned out to be the start of vericus veins :hissy: Got quite a few split veins now! It's hereditry but still GROSS :(

Hi girls

This had happened to me as well and and there were particular nights when i was really in pain and totally unable to move my legs...

Until now, my both my calfs permanently still hurt like some kinda muscle aching real bad, when i walk, get up from bed, etc and won't seem to go away.

I am not sure too what causes this, I hope this goes away after I give birth.

Cheers.

No problem hon :hugs:Hopefully all those bananas will help. Also, try just standing up when you get them. Whenever I get cramps in my calves I just get up and walk around and they usually go away.

I had it all the time!! Isn't it cramp?

Ah nevermind I read the link, I didn't have anything to stop mine and it only got worse as I got bigger!! def see if you can get something for it. I was getting it in both legs loads of times every night near the end.

I got them REALLY REALLY bad, and EVERY morning there for a few weeks.. they only stopped about a week ago. My BF had one last night and I was like "yeah.. yeah.. dont be a baby!! I get them all the time because of the baby!" And he was being a baby because he got one once..

welcome to the world of leg cramps i have them all the time yes it can be painful but if u stretch ur leg and pull toes towards u it normally eases off

yes i've had them and still do since 4 months maybe

when i asked ob about them she said to get up and walk on it and it should go away--- said trying to flex it and rub it in bed wont work very well ---course i do anyway---a nd it goes away shortly and ya sometimes oh helps me with it like last night had it in my foot but its usually in my legs

Do any of you get toe cramps? when it locks back?? that really kills as well!

Arg!

Had my first of these last night in my left calf. Woke me straight up from a dead sleep!

Oh my, sometimes I wonder if I'm too old for this...

How old are you margerle? (if you don't mind me asking you).

Got pregnant with #1 DD when I was 20, had her at 21.

Will be 33 with this baby. 10 years does a lot of things to a 20 year old body.

I obviously don't remember being so blah in the first trimester with #1. In fact I was 9 or 10 weeks along before I even bothered testing to confirm what I already suspected. Worked the whole time, had some nausea but not the bone crushing, unending nausea like this one. I was tired though with the first one, though was still leading a fun (non alcoholic :)) 20 year old lifestyle though for first 6 months of pregnancy.

Seems like I'm just such a crybaby with this one. Just feel like sh*t 80% of the time. I guess I assume its my older body. Maybe it's just a different pregnancy. I'm only 10-20 pounds off what I was when I was 20 (recently lost about 70lbs) and I'm fairly active.

:: shrug :: Sorry to whine so much :hugs:

Try drinking milk too, as depending on what it is, if it is any form of cramping, calcium helps with that!
