Ok well she has been here since the 23rd but things have been a little hectic and I am just now really having time to get on and tell all of you about my labor and new baby :) This might be a little long but I don't want to forget anything

Wednesday was my 39 weeks mark and the very next day I was having contractions every 5 mins apart for over 4 hours so we went to L&D. Even though I was having strong contractions I wasn't dilating any further so at 10pm they sent me home. I went home and took a hot bath and finally managed to fall asleep about 1am (Friday morning) At 5:50 am I woke up to turn my fan on because I was hot.. when I rolled over my water broke... literally i just rolled over. At first I wasn't very happy lol being that I was in bed. Woke up the hubby and we made all the phone calls, got together our stuff, got dressed and went to L&D.

I wanted a natural labor and delivery and so I was up walking and doing squats I even managed to keep the nurses from putting in the IV or saline lock. At 3pm my Doc showed up and checked me and I was still only 1.5 cms and 40% ... This was a little discouraging for me because I was hurting and was tired and hungry so I took the Doc advise and got this little pill (can't remember the name) that they put in the cervix and it is supposed to help dilate you. Well it really kicked up the contractions that is for sure.

So all day I was having contractions I tried to take breaks form walking and using birthing ball to rest but I really couldn't get much rest. At 10pm I was checked again... I was only 2.5 cm and 60% !!! Frustrated doesn't begin to describe how i felt. Because my water broke I was "on the clock" as far as having the baby before risk of infection got to be too great I was starting to worry I was gonna end up with pitocin or Csection. My nurse who was absolutly amazing told me straight up if things don't start progressing and soon then I was gonna end up with a csection and that i really needed to get some rest and pray that my body starts doing all the changes i needed it to do.

We started talkign about pain management so i could get some rest as she really thought that would help alot. She was pushing the epidural but i opted for the IV meds ( btw my hospital doesn't do stadol anymore wtf?) well this new stuff sucks .. it made me sleepy but sick to my stomach feeling and didnt take away any pain atall!! At 11 pm I gave in and got the epidural and even though I felt like I was wimping out I was willing to do anything to not end up with a csection.

For those like me who didn't know the act of getting the epidural is actually pretty painful! especially when your contractions are 1 min apart and you aren't supposed to move!! it took me alil to wind down after they did it because I was very upset that I gave in and got it and I was scared it was gonna mess up my back! So around midnight I finally fell asleep.

1am (Saturday) I woke up because I could feel my legs again and was scared that I pulled the needle out or something. The nurse came in and checked but the line was fine so they checked me while they were in there and I was complete!!! Needless to say my nap was OVER!! lol

I started pushing at 1:30am and by then I was feeling everything!!! (s/n as much as i was sad about getting the epidural because It was not what I wanted I felt jipped that I was still feeling everything lol)

My calm delivery was not a happening thing. I was tired and oh so tired of hurting. I screamed and cried and had a few mental break downs. I told the nurse (doc wasnt there yet) that I was not gonna push and she couldn't make me! I repeatedly told my mom that I loved her but she was pissing me off. My husband well he didn't say anything over then you are doing great so he didn't get yelled lol. When it got twords the end I started taking stuff off: the contraction monitor (umm I know when I am having one and pretty sure everybody in the room did to lol ) the blood pressure cuff, made them diconnect the IV line and close the saline lock, and if I hadn't been so scared of even touching the epi line I would have told them to take it out because it was useless. Oh and i totally took off the gown ... so much for modesty haha

At one point the nurse told me baby's heart beat was dropping and I needed to get my stuff together and just push. At this point my mom got my mirror and it really helped me focus. I pushed and pushed and just kept pushing. At 3:14am March 23rd my baby girl was finally here!!! It was amazing! the cord was around her neck and arm but she was perfect! 7 pounds 11 ounces 19 inches long

Now here is the scary part. Firstly nobody told me that if the placenta doesn't detach on its own they have to push on your stomach and really push hard to get it out. That was almost as painful as pushing her out! Oh btw my doc didn't get into the room til literally the moment her head came out. My wonderful nurse delivered her haha. OK so anyways well they are pushing on my belly I kept pushing their hands away and asking why couldn't we take a break! Apparently we couldn't take a break because I was bleeding a lot. They started pitocin to help try and stop the bleeding and eventually they got it under control. If i hadnt been so out of it from the pan i would have been alittle more cooperative

In the end everything was fine and my baby and I left the Hospital Sunday afternoon!

A few things I learned:

`nothing goes as planned and as long as mom and baby come out of it healthy there is no reason to feel bad for having to change your birth plan.
` labor is NO joke

Ok sorry so long
