My princess Lydia May finally arrived in the world at 10.39am on Friday 23rd May 2014 weighing 8lb 13oz. She's beautiful and perfect in every way.
Unfortunately delivery didn't go so well. I went in as planned for induction on my due date and everything started normally but by midnight nothing was progressing so they took me to the ward for the night. My waters went an hour later all over the ward floor and I then vomited for good measure lol. Thought something must finally be happening and I was so pleased. Next afternoon I was back in delivery at 5cm dilated and having the next induction tablets. It took until 7.30am the next morning to be fully dilated but baby wasn't fully engaged when her heart rate started dropping they had me try pushing anyway but it didn't work and off we went to theatre for forceps delivery. When they tried to get the forceps on her they found she was back to back and the wrong part of her head was trying to engage so emergency section it was!!!
They wheeled us through to recovery and I got to hold and breast feed my beautiful baby.
You'd think this is where most stories end - mine continues just a little longer. As they checked me over to go the ward they found I'd started to haemorrhage. Everyone went in to panic mode and while my mum and new daughter were taken back to a delivery room I was wheeled back into theatre for emergency surgery. I later found out I'd lost 3 litres of blood and needed surgery on my uterus plus a major blood transfusion. Thankfully I'm fine and my baby is incredible but it's scary how different it could of been!
We stayed four days in hospital and now we're home and enjoying every minute with my beautiful girl. The staff at the hospital were all amazing though I was disappointed with a couple of things that happened. I'm not dwelling though and instead I'm moving forwards and living life to the full
