Ok sooo this might be a bit long I will try and write as much as I can remember, but I don't remember many things due to the gas&air!
So here goes..
I went in on 11/09/12 - Monday 9am to be induced due to severe SPD and hyperemesis. I was 41 weeks exactly and still no sign of baby making a move! I had become really impatient and just could not wait to not be pregnant anymore plus I couldnt wait to meet my little princess, I was frustrated after having had 3 sweeps done and no result! But as soon as I was given an induction date I just relaxed and enjoy the rest of my preggie days.
We went in Monday mornin an the broke my waters at 9:30am - I was 1.5cm and so she broke them straight away. I have to say I was not expecting to see SOO much water
, I was so shocked and the midwife jst kept laughing at my face cus I was in total shock, and to be fair - so was she! It was like a river is swear! She had to change the mats about 5 times and it got to a point where I decided to just stand up and let it all flow. I stood for about 30 minutes and it just kept gushing out, then I sat down and it was like being sat in a pool full of water! ![dohh :dohh: :dohh:](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/doh.gif)
OH had left me for an hour and when he got back at 10:30 we decided to go down for a walk as I was having contractions every 5 minutes. I put the hopital granny pants on with a big fat pad on and but my boxers on top aswell and went down to costa. Everytime I had a contraction more water gushed out, I was having to stop walking with every contraction as they were getting painful. We sat at the cafe for 10 minutes before I made the seat AND the floor wet, and to make it worse OH kept laughing at me and making me laugh which meant that there was even MORE water gushing out - Jheez, I've never been so embarrased in my life![dohh :dohh: :dohh:](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/doh.gif)
so as soon as I wet he floor we decided to make a run and went for the lift back up to the Induction Unit where the midwife laughed at us!
It was about 12 when we got back to the Induction Unit and by 12:15 they had a room ready for us in the Delivery Suite. We grabbed our stuff and were shown to our room which was quite big! My contractions had slowed down by then and at 2pm the midwife checked me to see if I'd dilated any further, I had only dialated to a 2 so she decided to start me on Syntocinon to get contractions going! I started on the drip at 2:30pm. Contractions become stronger straight away and I coped until about 6pm but then I asked to try the gas&air. I tried it and hated what it tasted like and told them I didn't like it then the minute I felt what it did to my head I begged for it back - it was like being absolutey drunk!! And no it didn't take the pain away and it didn't make it any less painful BUT it made me sort of forget that I was in pain after each contraction. Anyway I LOVED it
. I couldnt move about because had the drip in and they had to monitor the baby. I was so off my face , I layed there with the midwife sat on the right side of the bed and OH sat on the left side and I was whispering to OH sayin "please tell me, have I farted yet? Cus if I'm farting you're doing really well to pretend that you can't hear it. The midwife isn't still in the room is she? She isn't behind me is she?" lol
she was, right behind me laughin at me!
And ofcorse I wasn't farting it was the monitors making noise whenever baby moved! ![dohh :dohh: :dohh:](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/doh.gif)
I was totally hearing things. Then I stared at my legs and kept going on about how I hadnt shaved my legs and how hairy they were and that everyone was going to laugh at me and telling OH off for not reminding me to shave my legs
. The funnies was when I had a cramp on my leg and kicked the midwife in the face, poor Kelly!
I just remember hearing ths little voice saying "don't kick me!!"
LOL so I was having a contraction AND had a cramp on my leg, jheez I dont even know which was worse, I hate cramps!!!
Anyway. By 7:30pm I just couldn't cope anymore just with gas and air and so I asked OH to "go and get the epidural guy", OH was shocked because he knew that I always said I'd only go for the epidural if I was really nearly dying in pain lol, he was shocked, then Kelly(the midwife) pressed the buzzer and within 5 minutes the epidural team were in my room
. I kept telling me them I'd let them know when I was ready and that when I said GO they'd need to be quick because contractions were coming like every 60seconds! LOl was I in PAIN!
The midwife decided to check me before they gave me the epidural, this was at 7:45pm, when she finished examining me she said "about 2-3cm" at this point I'd gone very quiet but when I hear the number TWO I said OMG really loud to which they all looked at me and started laughing at me!![dohh :dohh: :dohh:](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/doh.gif)
The gave me the epidural - and I did feel the big needle going in, although it wasn't painful! The pain started to become bareable within half an hour. My back was quite sore tho and I could still feel contractions just no pain but still discomfort! I was so sorry to have to give away the gas and air lol![haha :haha: :haha:](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/haha.gif)
At 8pm Kelly left and I had a new midwife come in with a student. At 9pm I started to feel pain again, my contractions were hurting again and I told the midwife that I could feel pain so she kept topping up the epidural to make it stronger but still no result!! By 10pm I was in agony and so OH gave me the gas&air to help me cope with it. Contractions were so so SOOOO strong I couldn't believe it. And the epidural clearly was not working but the midwife didn't seem to be keen to do anything about it other than to keep topping it up which didn't help because the epidural was making me sick. I must have been sick about 20 times and kept askin for food just so I had something to throw up because my stomach was so empty there was nothing coming out in the end!!
I started on gas&air and just went into my own litte world, the room looked completely different and I remember some of the things that OH and the midwives were chatting about - they literally sat there having the longest chat ever whilst I suffered in pain with my new best friend(G&A). At 11pm I was begining to sort of push with each contraction, I was in so much pain and was almost growling like an animal trying to fight the urge to push - I was only 2cm at 7:45pm so I didn't think I was ready yet! OH had realised that I had totally changed I wasn't coping at all and then I said I felt like I needed to push. I was sort of ignored by the midwife as she didnt believe me and told me to wait till 11:45pm which was when they had planned to examine me again! I jst ignored her and let my body do what it was do. I was breathing and using the gas&air religiously. OH was amazing he kept getting me drinks as my mouth and throat were so sore, he went and got the camera to take pictures eveytime I asked him to(yes I was still askin him to take pictures lol), he was there with a wet flanel wiping my forehead to help with ease the nausea, and he was there holding my had and telling me to breathe and to look at him and concentrate!
Everytime I had a contraction I had to hold someone's hand - very strange - no matter who it ws - the anasthetist, the midwife, the student midwife, the stranger midwife, lol whoever was next to me when I had a contraction had to hold my had - I think it is because everytime I had a contraction I had to shut my eyes and suck on gas and air and if I didn't hold someone's hand I felt lost - a bit like you feel when you shut your eyes when you're really drunk but I was also in A LOT of pain!!
All the pain was in my ass!! I could feel Maya making her way down and at one point I remember saying "her head is going to come out soon". I think my OH nagged the midwif a bit - she saw I wasn't coping at all - and she examined me at 11:30pm. I was fully dilated and the baby was in the words of the midwife "just here"![dohh :dohh: :dohh:](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/doh.gif)
. The midwife told me just to go with my body and let it push her down for me. I did that - SOOOO painful. I kept asking if I was poo'ing myself cus it felt like I was lol and then I kept laughing at the midwife's face expression because I thought she looked shocked ad I thought it was because I was crapping myself
at 12am the midwife tol me that I should start pushing to help my body push her out.
I pushed for 20 minutes and she was out!! I pushed as many times as I could with each contraction and I kept putting my hand down there to feel her head coming out! OH was AMAZING, I've falled more in love with him after this experience! Maya was born at 12:22am - 8,5lb
she was placed on top of me, she was covered in vernix. She didn't cry at all she was just looking around I couldn't believe it! She is lovely!! I did hve a 2nd degree tear and had to have about 4 stiches.
I had to stay in the hospital for 24 hours as Maya wasn't eating neither breastmilk nor formula milk. I decided breastfeeding isn't for me and so she is drinking formula only now! She is gettin used to it. She's lovely. She sleeps a lot - yesterday she slept from 7am til 9pm only waking up to eat - then she stays wide awake for about two hours and goes back to sleep and only makes a little crying noise when she's hungry! She's beautiful and looks so much like her dad! We're a propper family now and me and OH are so much more in love now and feel so much stronger as a couple!!
I struggled at the hospital, being surrounded by midwives, other new mum and crying babies was making me feel depressed. I just wanted to come home. Plus I was a bit stressed over the fact she wasnt feeding properly. But now it's all good! The post labour pain are not very good. I'm quite sore - my butt and back are very sore. My belly wrap really helps to keep things together and I' happy wih the wat my body looks right now, although I see to have a couple of stretchies in my belly all of the sudden!![Growl :growlmad: :growlmad:](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/growlmad.gif)
Anywho, here's a picture.

I'd just like to add - I absolutely enjoyed giving birth - I didn't enjoy the pain but it was an amazin experience I felt so powerful and I'm even glad that the epidural didn't work, means I got to experience everything. It was amazing!!![Cloud 9 :cloud9: :cloud9:](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/cloud9.gif)
