Short cycles and clomid?

Hi,
I had my first visit to the FS yesterday and as I have 19 day cycles (to the day for the last 6 months or so)-my doctor doesn't think I am ovulating. He is still checking my progesterone early on though to see if I just have a very short luteal phase as my cycles are so regular. Also he has ordered a full hormonal workup and an HSG.
Anyways he talked about possibly trying clomid next month and I asked him what clomid would do to my short cycle, and he didn't seem sure.
Does anyone have any success stories with clomid and a short cycle? Or any examples of what clomid does to a short cycle? Obviously best case scenario I don't get AF for a good 9 months after taking it.

Thanks so much, any input at all would be greatly appreciated.
Trina

I have short 22/23 day cycles with a 10 day LP I Ovulate regularly every month- i'm yet to try clomid, but that's next after my lap and dye.

I did however take Soy Isoflavones in sheer frustration at not getting any help and they made me O a day earlier and extended my LP by roughly 2 days  It was only when i provided this evidence to my FS that he has agreed to let me try clomid!

I'll try anything if it means there is some hope xx GL! xx

Thanks Shells. I'm hoping clomid does good things to my cycle, as soy did for yours! I may also try soy if they won't put me on clomid relatively soon.
I'm assuming clomid will have a similar affect on your cycle as soy did. I have heard that even if someone ovulates naturally, sometimes a "stronger" o with clomid can result in higher chances of pregnancy. Good luck to you, keep me posted on how it goes:)

Clomid made me ovulate a little later and extended my cycle by a few days. You may want to look into Vitex. Many women have a lot of success getting that to make their lp longer. It takes about 3 months to kick in, but it really does work!

Thanks so much for the responses! I'm just bumping this to hopefully hear some more success stories?? :)
I think I'll be starting clomid next week, I'm so nervous and so incredibly hopeful that clomid will work for me!

I'm not sure what it does to short cycles, but for me, it made my usual 30ish day cycle decrease to about 26 days. I'm now on letrozole which did the same thing. When I asked my fs if I should worry about luteal phase being too short, she said letrozole was a treatment for that! I imagine clomid would also work.

Good luck with your first round of clomid!! Hope it works!

Thanks Hatethewait!! Good luck to you this cycle also!!
