Hi ladies! So I think I might have a short luteal phase defect. Did anyone else have this but become pregnant? I just got positive opk on cd 17-today-which is exciting, but my cycles only range from 23-27 days so I'm worried all our hard work won't pay off this month... Last month I O'd on cd 14, and the month before cd 15. Any feedback or advice would be great!! Thanks!

I have short cycles and i did lots of googling/reading threads and lots of people talked about vitamin B complex helping with LPD.

I took Vitamin B complex 100mg everyday from CD1 and i had a 13 day LP, so it might be worth trying that. Just take them everyday with your folic acid/supplements.

Be warned... it turns your urine bright yellow!! It does tell you on the pack but nothing prepares you just how yellow it is! Fluorescent springs to mind lol OPKs and HPT are not effected by the colour and work just fine.

GL x

Thanks for the info. Since in on cd 17, is it too late to start the b6 now? Should I wait until next cycle?

My LP used to range from anything from 8 days to 11 days. I tried Agnus Castus and Vitamin B Complex. Some cycles it worked to lengthen it but others it didn't. But my main problem was that every cycle, my LP would be 12 days but I would be spotting sometimes at about 5dpo. Maybe see your doctor? I think progesterone cream can be prescribed for that x

I took it half way through a cycle in the beginning and it didn't help that cycle, however the continuation from CD1 onwards it did help. I had my progesterone checked and that is all fine so i knew that wasn't the issue for me.

So i would take it from when you purchase it, and hopefully see the benefits the following cycle.

It's also safe to take if you are PG - I consulted my midwife friend who said it's a good thing to take. You body will only absorb what it needs and you will pee out any excess... hence the yellow urine lol x

Thanks ladies, good to know. I also had my progesterone levels checked and they were fine. I've just started noticing this on my own lately though so If this cycle doesn't work them I'm going to talk to my doctor. Thanks and good luck!

Mine was a little short so I took Angus castus for a couple of month. As a result I ovulated a couple days earlier and my LP was more normal. Haven't taken them for about a year and the problems have not come back.

I used to have a short LP around 9 days most months. I tried the B complex thing which didn't help at all. Seems to help most ppl though. I started acupuncture and red raspberry leaf tea at the same time and my cycle changed quite a bit. Now I usually get 13 days although I still get random spotting sometimes. So I'm not sure which helped - acupuncture or the tea but I don't dare stop using either. (Probably acupuncture)
