I'm not sure whether it's OK to post in here or not... I've also posted in the TTC over 35 section, but thought maybe people here may have more answers?

I haven't been using any contraception since my 18 month old daughter was born, having fairly regular sex, but not TTC. I'm 36 and have four children.

Long story, but I then ended up taking Cerazette for a month, then had a Lletz procedure after an abnormal smear, then had a repeat Lletz 5 weeks after that on 25th October. I started a period on 21st October, then had my next period on 6th December, so a 46 day cycle, when they are usually regularly 32-34 days and the period was normalish bleeding for a day or so, then just spotting for 14 days in total.

Since about day 9 of this cycle (despite still bleeding) until day 22 I was ovulation testing and it appears I haven't ovulated. I think my long cycle length last time may indicate I hadn't ovulated then either. Certainly no signs this cycle, although EWCM for a day only.

I'm going to my GP as this is abnormal for me, although there are a number of possible causes. I have always got pregnant very easily previously and have always had normal cycles even whilst on the combined pill and depo provera.

Will she just tell me to wait a few cycles and see how it goes? I am BF my daughter still, but I doubt that is a factor as my normal periods returned after 3 months.

I'm a little worried as my Mum went through the early menopause.

You say you're not TTC but you're taking OV tests? That doesn't make any sense lady

She may have been doing the OV tests to see if anything altered her ovulation after the Cerazette and two Lletz procedures she had after her abnormal smears. For someone who conceived so easily for her first three pregnancies and to have abnormal smears followed by irregular cycles, I'd be concerned too. Some women know their bodies better than others. It may not make sense to you but for her, it may help her in trying to figure out what may be going on with her cycles and stuff. OV tests are not solely used by women who are trying to get pregnant. I used them for several months to try to help me figure out if I even ovulate at all.

To the OP, I'm sorry I can't offer any sound advice to you other than to keep monitoring your cycles and see your doctor if you still have some concerns about it. I've never been pregnant or even had a bfp so I wouldn't know anything about that.

Thanks for the replies. uwa_amanda, I'm sorry to read your sig, that must be very hard for you, I just can't imagine and I appreciate I am very, very lucky. Thank you for being so understanding about my post.

I think I wasn't very clear. Not been using contraception for 18 months, but am now TTC. It's just that I have never had a late period, they carried on as normal through the mirena coil and depo for years too.

I think I'm going to wait for this period to turn up and then ovulation test next cycle and see what happens.

Thanks again.

I gotcha. I hope everything goes well for you! :hugs: :hugs:
