Hi girls

My lil man is 8 weeks old tomorrow, over the last few days he has been taking 5oz every 2 hours and he usually goes 3-4 hours!! ive tried putting extra ounces in but he wont drink them! then another 2 hours hes hungry again! should i move him onto hungrier baby milk? he is on aptamil. i would talk to my health visitor but she is sooooo anti hungrier baby milk!! what do you think ladies? xxx

He's so cute!!!

How long has he been doing this? It may just be a growth spurt so I would maybe ride it out for a few more days and see if it settles down.

I tried Brady on hungry baby and it didn't make any difference at all! He still wanted feeding at the same times and had the same amount as the normal stuff. I also just didn't really like it to prepare, it all clumps together and doesn't mix as well.

Its up to you though hun, dont let the HV put you off, some babies get on really well with it.

Sounds like a growth spurt to me - he's the right age for one. It'll pass. You could try hungry milk, Ruby was on it from 2 months and did great, it only started to disagree with her once she started eating solids.

I put Sophie (who is now 5 yrs old) on hungry baby formula as she started getting hungry quicker and going less time between feeds, she was on it within the first week! and did make a difference, she would go 4 hours between feeds and would even sleep all night without waking up for a feed straight away (not sure if i was just lucky or it was because she wasnt hungry) i didn't really discuss it with HV i went with the advice mum gave me, she had to put both me and my sister on hungry baby formula. I decided to try her out on SMA hungry baby formula and it seemed to work fine. Can you maybe try hungry baby formula (the make of your choice as i have no idea whats out there now! lol) out and see if it makes a difference?

thank you girlies! think i will give him a few more days and if theres no improvement move him onto the hungrier stuff :-) xx

sounds like a growth spurt to me too i put kai on hungry baby milk and it was awful made him really constipated so it didnt suit him but thats not to say it will be the same for your baby but id give it a little longer and isnt there another hv you could speak too x

First my son went on SMA, it dont agree with him so changed to aptamil normal milk he was ok for a while but he wants more as it is thin formula, so I decided to get him on hungier milk, its better for him and he is more settled. xxx

maybe buy a couple of small cartons to try him on see how he gets on with it first xx

i also wondered this too, my baby is now 4 weeks old and drinking comfort 7oz and then being hungry after aswell and was wondering to feed him hungry baby at night time. Ive been feeding him one at night to get him settled becuase he never settles on a half empty tummy

At my last antenatal class on feeding, my midwife told us never to go onto the 'hungry baby' milks - always stay on the first one - as they are like just cement in babys stomach.
