I had to put my little girl on comfort milk a few weeks ago for her reflux and colic, its helped a lot but because it has 40% less lactose than standard milk should I attempt to wean her off it before she's one? I'm just worried if I just put her straight back on the first milk (not just yet obviously) her little body won't be able to deal with it. So my question is should I wean her off the comfort milk and when would it be best? I wouldn't want her reflux or colic to get worse again after the 3 month mark :/

Thanks ladies x

My dd wants her comfort milk at bedtime. If I don't give her it, then she won't sleep. I think at this age you need to go with what works for you and her.

Oh I happy with her being on it now just in a few months I'm just trying to think ahead lol :)

My LO was on comfort milk too due to constipation at 3 weeks old. When she turned one I gradually started giving her cows milk instead. I'd start off with her morning bottle, doing half formula and half cows milk. Then did the same with her bedtime bottle a week later. Then changed her morning bottle to just cows milk. I think the bed time bottle was the last to change. It hasn't made any difference to her tummy. She's always been very windy and still is! Whether its cow or comfort it makes no difference to her. She never got constipated though which is what I was worried about.

I was wondering the same thing. LO has been on comfort since 3 weeks old due to constipation. I gave him a bottle of first milk when he was around 8 weeks as I was out and desperate and he got constipated! I think when I start weaning I'll try again x

My LO was on comfort milk due to colic and it really helped him. I kept him on it until he switched to cows milk at 12 months

Babies that need that kind of formula usually outgrow the issue they were having by the time they start solids, so you can go either way (switch back to regular formula around then or stay on the comfort milk until 12 months then go right to cows milk) and it shouldn't make a difference.
