Hi Ladies,

We're planning our second baby and I was really hoping for some advice on the birth.

My first birth was induced and terrible and I ended up with a massive post partum hemorrhage (2 ltrs) immediately after LO was born. Luckily as I was in a delivery room and I already had someone there doing an episiotomy they we're quick to raise the alarm and deal with it, but what next time?

I'm petrified of bleeding out again, apparently red heads are prone to this?!

And I was under the impression that by having an elective c-section I could be in a controlled environment ready to tackle the problem if it occurs again.

What are peoples thoughts, has anyone experienced this before?

Never had this experience, so not much help. If your in the UK you can request to have a debrief about last one and what is the options and risks with this new pregnancy xxx

Thank you, who do I speak to about that? Is it the midwife when I'm next pregnant? I'm not even sure its a valid reason for an elective!

You can speak to a midwife before your pregnant if you request a debrief. But your midwife you book in with should chat to you and signpost you to the correct person for your hospital. I think your experience is sufficient to request a c-section and to be able to discuss the pro and cons of the different birth options. It is now policy that you have the right to decide your birth method x
