Should I take a test?

OK so my period is late (if it will arrive) and I had some symptoms before, like fuller breasts, leg cramps, nausea for a day or two, bloated, change of appetite (think a lot of food is a tag too salty when I like salty food!)... BUT most of these "symptoms" come and go. Now the only symptoms I have are fuller breasts and dry mouth. I mean I have fuller breasts and dry mouth usually before my period too. But for dry mouth, it only happens like a day before my period arrives. Now it's been 5 days or so and I still feel like I need to drink water. Last night I even felt that plain water is tasty!

So I don't know... if you have read my ranting post, I keep telling myself I can't get pregnant naturally, esp. impossible without tracking. I keep telling myself not to read into that many details, and I can be imagining things. But then... my period is not here yet... so it's either late or I am indeed pregnant. I feel like I should probably test these few days if my period doesn't show up, but I know I'll be so disappointed and worried what is going on with my body if I get a negative.

So what do you ladies think? btw, my period should have been here from Sep 25 to Sep 29.

I hope I can get some insights for you. Thanks for reading!

Sorry English is not my native language and now I see some mistakes in the post and couldn't find the edit button. Hope you can understand what I wrote...

Hey MyDreams - I would, if you could, wait for it to be about a week late. I know there are tests that can give you results sooner - but it also can give you false hope.

So to be sure, I would give it a week and then test. Sometimes being stressed can cause a reaction from our bodies as well.

Also, I like to add that nothing is impossible. I understand that you said you can not get pregnant on your own but stranger things have happened. I am 43 years old and was told that I could not have children and in August without even trying I did. Unfortunately, I lost my baby - but that is besides the point.

Children wasn't an option for me and yet I got pregnant. So anything can happen. Maybe in the past you couldn't conceive naturally and that may have changed.

But to minimize the possibility of disappointment - I would wait until a few more days and see what happens.

Fingers crossed

Justme43,

Thanks so much for your reply!

I am so sorry for your loss. But I'm glad to hear that this can happen when you least expect it. I'm sure you can get pregnant again and give birth to a healthy baby very soon!

I'm turning 40 the end of this year. Deep down inside my heart, I'd really like to have 1 more child. I gave birth to my toddler boy now when I just turned 37, via IUI. I have 2 big fibroids and was told at birth of my baby that I have mild endometriosis (even the fertility Dr. didn't see that). Also was told that DH has low motility sperms. So I was thrilled to have my 1st baby via IUI finally after TTC for 2 years naturally.

But no, I don't want to go thru more visits of fertility dr, I just can't take that pressure anymore. So I'm like, I'd be thrilled if I can get pregnant naturally just like that! And yeah... I hope I didn't imagine things or they're just PMS symptoms.

OK... I guess I should wait a few more days to see what happens first. I hope I'm indeed pregnant, if not, at least AF please come...

I hear you. Keep me posted on what happens. I hope you are pregnant too.

My AF finally came yesterday, five weeks after my loss so I am thrilled that I can ttc again soon.

Things will work out for you too. I'll keep checking back so keep me updated.

Baby dust to you..

For me, I really hope so... but I hate that many of the previous "symptoms" just come and go. I only have fuller breasts, sensitive nipples, change of taste and dry mouth now. I think these are not very obvious symptoms for me :P. But my AF still hasn't shown up... so...

Anyways... GOOD LUCK for BOTH of us!!!

Good Morning, I was just checking in and I see still no AF.. woohoo

:dust::dust: to you..

Hi Justme43,

Yeah no AF still... and since last night I felt pretty sick. So I had a burrito and some chicken for dinner. And afterwards I started to feel really bloated and a bit nauseous. Dry mouth is still there. I drank a lot of water yesterday. So needless to say, I woke a few times in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. And then I felt really gassy. And I couldn't fall back to sleep since 4am. :(

This morning I just felt tired and am still a little nauseous. But since couple hours ago, I started to have hot flashes. I mean it's not that hot now but I feel so warm inside my body... it's like burning inside! I'm not sweating but I just feel really warm. So I actually looked it up and saw that some women do have hot flashes after they got pregnant.

Oh and also I have sensitive nipples too. But then this happens before AF sometimes too...

Now I don't know what to think... hope it's not sth else is up... actually I can't even think straight right now... :(

You should test!!!! If the last day your period should have arrived was 3 days ago, then you should get a positive if you are pg. Use a frer (First Response Early Results) if you can. GL!!

Justme43, Vonn and helloeveryone,

Thanks for your replies & support!

You know what, I finally went to Walmart last night to get 2 cheapie pregnancy tests cuz yesterday the symptoms seemed pretty clear to me. Oh and I FINALLY had the courage to tell DH I think something might be up. And so, 5 am this morning, I had to wake up and pee again, as I know test results are more accurate in the 1st pee, I opened one of the tests with my sleepy eyes and read the instructions...

Then I peed in a cup, and ok 3 full drops in that small window... tell you what, I wasn't even nervous (the first time I was pregnant, I was super nervous when I did the test and I did several cheapie tests to confirm!). And so, in LESS THAN 60 SECONDS, it showed that I'm pregnant!!!

You know ladies, I immediately woke my DH and told him... it's unbelievable! And then I took a few pictures of the test in case it will disappear later...

Oh and you know what, the 88 cents pregnancy test works just as good! It did show a positive result in less than 60 sec and it's easy to use!

Just to be safe, I'll test again tomorrow morning. And then I guess I need to email my ob/gyn? I hope I'll see her again! She's really nice (didn't like the midwife that much though).

So this is it.... sorry this reply is a bit unorganized and maybe off topic a bit...

btw, in less than 2 weeks we're going out of state for a vacation the 1st time since the birth of my son too! So now that'd be a celebration? And I hope it's ok for me to fly? I hope so...

Last pregnancy I encountered some problems, e.g. bleeding since the beginning of the pregnancy (SCH), then UTI and gestation diabetes (worst nightmare!!!), I hope I don't have ANY of these this time around. So far at least I don't have any of these problems. And I can't believe with my problems, I can get pregnant naturally, just like that, without even tracking and trying... now I hope this is REAL.

Vonn,

I read from your signature that you and I are about the same age and you also have fibroids like me. I hope that after you fibroid and polyp removal, you can get pregnant very soon! For me, even I had 2 big fibroids, luckily, it did not stop the growth of my baby last time. Well it did make it harder for us to get pregnant.. that's why we had to do IUI last time (successful in the 3rd time). Actually during my pregnancy last time, my fibroids grew bigger with the hormones, luckily so did my baby. The most difficult part is delivery. My Ob/Gyn had to perform a C-section for me and cuz of the fibroids, it caused a lot of bleeding and she had to open my belly a bit more than usual to take the baby out... (ok sorry off topic again). So she told me if I get pregnant again, I'll have to give birth at 37 weeks this time....

Hope everything is fine...

AND GOOD LUCK AND BABY DUST TO YOU ALL LADIES!!! I will continue to post further results here :)

NOW THAT IT THE TYPE OF NEWS I LIKE TO START MY WEEK WITH!!!!!!

So happy for you sweetie.. Congratulations!

Thanks everybody!

I tested yesterday morning again and yes, it's very clear it's positive! I'm gonna email the Dr. today to see what's next.

And I'm already looking for ways to AVOID gestational diabetes!!! Last time I was borderline after that test so I was diagnosed with GD. My mom has diabetes and I was over 35 so I was high risk already. THEN the worst thing was I was bleeding (SCH... so I was in partial bed rest and no exercise) and I had severe nausea and the only thing that made me feel better was sour/ sweet stuff. I think that made things even worse. Now I hope I don't have ANY of these problems and I certainly am afraid of GD. They made me see the nutritionist (one of them was NOT nice at all) several times and worse yet, I had to do the baby heart beat scan thing (forgot what it's called) every other day since Week 34. One time the midwife made me go to the hospital to do the heart beat scan immediately cuz they couldn't get a good heart beat there. I was really pissed and super nervous. I almost cried worrying if my baby was ok. But when I went to the hospital , both the nurse and ob/gyn (My ob/gyn happened to be there that day) told me my baby was perfectly fine and there's nothing to worry about.

Anyways... I know this is off topic... but that was nightmare. I surely don't want to get GD again... it's very stressful :( .

If anyone knows how to avoid GD, please let me know! I think I'll open another thread to ask about this...

Congrats MyDream - so very exciting indeed!!!

TLK,

Thanks! It is exciting but at the same time I've already started to worry. Hope i will have a smooth pregnancy this time.

And if you're TTC, GOOD LUCK & baby dust to you!!!

Wow, huge congrats to you!!!!! :cloud9::cloud9::baby::baby:Be positive and proactive to do what you can to avoid the GD and other issues you had last time. Every pregnancy is different, so there's no need for this one to be like the previous!

I hope I will be able to pg, too, now that the polyp and fibroid are out. They didn't even know there was a fibroid in there until they were performing the surgery. So that was a surprise.

Thanks Vonn! Yeah I'm trying to be positive now but what I found out so far is it's hard to avoid being diagnosed with GD again, esp. with the not-so-accurate test.

Anyways, so I think your fibroid must not be that big since they did not even know until the surgery. That is good. Now without any fibroid and polyp, your chance will be higher! The Dr. found out I had 2 big fibroids when I was 34, but she didn't recommend surgery cuz of the location and my otherwise normal periods. But it turned out it made ttc more difficult. Good thing the IUI finally worked for us.

And this time, I'm surprised I can get pregnant naturally without even trying, despite my 2 big fibroids. So I hope without one now, you will get pregnant very very soon!

GOOD LUCK!!!
