well ill be having my babies at 36 weeks or before and im worried in case they have trouble latching on. i dont want to give them formula if they dont latch on straight away but is it even possible to pump in the first few days as you are only producing a small amount of colostrum? when dd was born all she did was sleep and she didnt want to feed so the midwife shoved a bottle of formula in her mouth and she puked straight away. i dont want that to happen again :( is it likely they will have trouble latching on?

Yes,take it along. Hospitals usually also have pumps available that are also very good,so ask them about it.

take it ive expressed exlusively since day 1 and to start with u will only get tiny amount out but thats all they need to start with x

I had my baby at 36 weeks and she could latch on ok and I'm rather large breasted.

Unfortunately she had breathing problems and wasn't able to feed. I hand expressed colostrum for the first couple of days and was then given a hospital grade pump while still in the hospital. This meant I could double pump and it was much more efficient than my own pump.

So I wouldn't bother taking yours - the hospital should be able to provide one if required.

I did need help to get feeding established and it was imvaluable, so make sure you insist if you need help!

You really need to try to have a positive attitude before you start. If you keep thinking you will fail it's more likely to happen.

BELIEVE in your body and yourself as a mum. YOU CAN DO IT.

My advice is NO. Dont take it. Write on your birth plan that you do not want formula without your permission. They have pumps if you need on but start to believe that you wont.

:)

thank you everyone. thanks mervs mum, i know i come accross as such a pessimist dont i :( i dont mean to be lol i just keep worrying about every little thing to do with BF. i havent once thought about sleepless nights or how im going to juggle 2 new borns and a 2 year old but im always thinking about BF. i wont take my pump in, if i do need it we only live a 10 minute drive from hospital so oh could always pick it up and bring it in i guess. i certainly wont let them give them formula again like last time (nothing wrong with it obv and my dd was ff but they didnt even ask me, i think it was because i was quite young and they thought they knew best). ok ive got to get me some PMA now lol

I am sending you loooooooooads of positive BFing vibes darling! :hugs:

You can do it - I know you can. Your clever body is feeding and growing not one but TWO babies!! I mean...WOW!!!! You have 2 (.Y.)s for a reason honey and you are gonna do great. It dont know many Mummies who said it was super easy but not all of them have a nightmare either. Believe in your clever body sweetheart x

Awww Lisa you're amazing at this  You're even making me feel happy

But i totally agree, believe in yourself don't think negatively think that it will happen and surround yourself with people who believe in you and are only going to be positive :) Make sure they know you DONT want formula, some MWs dont bother to even look at your birth plan and they will just do what they believe is best for you baby.

:hugs: :hugs: BTW totally jealous i would LOVE twins
