Sick 3 year old and BF 1 week old

Hi.

On the night we came home from hospital my 3 year old woke with a fever. It has been off and on all week with high temps of 39.7. Tonight (6 days later) she has been sick with temps of 39 plus again.

I've taken her to docs today and its just a virus as I suspected.

We are worried about her but also worried about our newborn who is only a week old. I am BFing which I know will help. Doc didn't think she would catch anything but I am very concerned. I have them both on my own tomorrow with no one available to help !

What do you think? Will newborn be covered?

It's hard to say really. Your newborn should still have all your antibodies but sadly all you can do is watch out for the symptoms of a viral in your baby. Make sure baby is still feeding normal and if baby gets a temp, take to the doctors as you can't give calpol yet x
