long story but i keep getting hit in the belly by idiot people passing with no sense of space. anyways does anyone know if there is anything i can buy to protect my bump?

don't want to be house bound

Unless they're full out punching you in the stomach you have no need to worry! Your body is made to absorb bumps and protect that baby! :)

I feel like I'm protecting my bump a lot but more from my stupidity than other people lol. I'm not aware of how big I've gotten so I forget and almost bump into stuff all the time. I agree what the pp said, I don't think it can hurt LO!

i just feel i have enough to worry about being high risk and such today in supermarket i was hit full force with a basket full of shopping by some careless asshole and its not the first time things like this happened i have been looking about but not seeing much baby has enough to battle with with my body and such without bangs you know?

I'm sure you will be ok. Your belly does have a layer of fat protecting LO, plus the water LO is floating around in is great protection. I know how you feel, though. I was playing with my 2yo earlier, tickling him, and he kicked me in the belly. I turned him so his legs were to the side, but he had twisted. I simply turned him back to the side. I was punched full out in the belly soon after my oldest was conceived (didn't know yet) and I had no ill effects from it. I did enjoy making that jerk feel bad after I found out I was preggo, though.

just would like to have something so can worry that little bit less about accidents.

A friend of mine was concerned about the same thing so she got a tee shirt that said "Pregnant belly, bump into it and YOU will get hurt." Was many yonks ago but whenever she went out she wore it. No one ever bumped into her. :D

Not sure where you would get something like that now but perhaps one can be custom made?

I worry about my eight month old DD constantly trying to raise her self up on my belly and kicking and hitting it. I know she doesn't have a clue that she has a little brother in there. I think he will be ok though.

i wouldnt worry about it, baby is well padded in there! Im forever open doors too close to my belly and hitting it lol or leaning over the sink to do the dishes and getting squished lol. i hate walking past young folk and kids who are carrying on cos they dont pay attention and could bang into you or throw a ball or something and hit you (not that it would damage baby but my oh would damage them lol) but ive found my voice over the years and now i quite loudly say "excuse me" before they even get too close, most of them appologize even though they aint done anything but they realised to watch what they are doing. Im especially like this if im pushing my 1 year old in her buggy too. ive also found more of a waddle make people realise you are pregnant and they give you a wider berth lol xx

It's so annoying, every time I go into a supermarket I seem to have to be really careful of people hitting my bump...almost like my bump is a magnet for idiots.

Yesterday a bunch of teenage girls were skipping through ASDA with baskets full of heavy tinned stuff...swinging the baskets as they went, one nearly went straight into my belly if I hadn't stepped back and pushed it away with my hand!

Then there seem so be loads of people who don't look where they are going and just ram their trolley into you. My DH thought I was paranoid until he saw it all happen first hand yesterday.

I'm the same if I sit on the outer side seat on the bus think people may bump into me lol x x

So many people don't seem to look where they are going! It is infuriating!

I don't blame you for being worried, being high risk, but like the others said there's lots of in-built protection for your baby.

A friend of mine was in a really serious car accident when she was about half way through her pregnancy (her car was totalled by a lorry) and she recently gave birth to a very healthy baby boy.

when ive been pregnant around 12-15 weeks ive walked into a steel door handle and collapsed falling on my stomach twice and the baby is absolutley fine =) more protected then u think but if ur that worried try see if the midwife can see u to give u peice of mind (=

I read somewhere just recently that the baby is so protected that any external force would need to be so great as to come close to killing the mother before it has a chance of touching the baby. Not sure if I'd allow forces quite THAT great anywhere near me but someone bumping into you or even ramming you with a supermarket trolley, while hugely annoying, is not dangerous.

That t-shirt someone mentioned sounds great though! :haha:

Ergh, I hate this!! I get so arsey if people get too close lol.
I swear I visibly prickle... I was in Starbucks on Saturday and a bunch of young teenagers were arsing about in front of me shoving eachother so I told them to "F***ing move before I moved them myself." Needless to say they moved. I'm such a lovely person :haha: Xx

:haha: I know how u feel.

I remember watching a program about a sky diver, her parachute didn't open and her emergency chute got tangled she fell straight onto concrete! Luckly she passed out before impact so her body was relaxed enough to absorb some of the shock...when she got to hospital they told her she was pregnant!!!! The baby was fine and she suffered quite a few broken bones...obviously!

Baby must be protected quite a bit! However I still can't stand the thought of anyone or thing hitting my belly, even just lightly.

the same thing almost happened to me the other week hun by a woman who was on a power shopping trip on her lunch rushing around swung her trolley to turn around, luckily i had a basket at my side as a buffer otherwise it would've hit me full force right in the stomach! still i got a dig in the ribs and it hurt and she didn't even apologise! i was furious and wanted to say something but i felt too upset to even open my mouth i think i have a bit of a bump showing now. then before the sort of same thing happened at around 12/13 weeks by the girl behind the counter in argos we were waiting for our item and she slid it across to us, it was too big for the counter and yep she hit me right in the stomach :dohh: it was just a tap but i feel the same it's like what do we have to do? wear a sign?! **watch the bump**

my hubby tends to hit me or elbow me a lot @ night while he sleeps … I now sleep with a pillow around my belly, but I still scream @ him if he hits me. He gets all scared and worries lol … babies ok tho.

I have a toddler who's all elbows and feet and is constantly jumping on me. Baby is fine in there. They're well protected so don't worry.

we should all maybe get "wide load" signs for front and back with flashing lights attatched lmao!!!
