In need of some advice.

If you are off on the sick, on returning to work, my works requests a back to work interview, they ask for doctors name and address, are they legally allowed to contact your doctor???

They are not allowed to contact your doctor unless you sign a form to permit the release of information from them. Don't worry hun...... if your employers try this on they are in breach of confidentiality and so are the doctors surgery if they give out any info.
Both can get into loads of trouble!

On this form we have to fill out, they ask if you have seen a doctor, and if you have you have to provide a name and address, this is not the form though is it? xx

They can only contact your doctor with your written permission; my employer did this when I started the company due to my past mental illness. If you refuse permission, be aware that this can then open a whole other can of worms.

When they ask for a doctors name and address you visited, they ARE allowed to contact them, but SOLELY to get a YES/NO answer, wether you have visited the surgery.

If ANY information is released as into WHY you were there, this is a breach of discrepancy as mentioned in an earlier post, and a tribunual hearing should be put forward, a doctors will NEVER give out information to an employer other than you have or havent made an appointment to see them.

So i shouldn't worry to much :)

also just to point out, you are by law allowed to self certificate for upto 7 working days, any time longer than this period you require a doctors note.

*I can believe you have to attend a back to work interview, why?, what is your occupation?*

believe me, ive had alot of squit with my employer, there isn't alot i dont know about the working laws now lol

N.B -
pregnant woman are far more protected at work, than any other employee.

A back to work interview is quite common... justto make sure you're fully recovered and no issues.

Are you sure about GP being able to say yes/no about attending the surgery???
I'm pretty sure this is still breach of confidentiality. I work in a GP surgery and we don't give out ANY info at all

From past experience yes, they have said yes or no, i took it further and got no where, i didnt think a doctor could give out any issue. But obviously this one they are. :(
