My LO was quite constipated on HB milk so I put him back onto Cow&Gate nomal formula, today he has started being sick after every feed! He was never sicky before. Whats going on??? I feel like crap, I'm either making the wee soul constipated or sick, can't seem to get it right!!!

If the sickness doesnt ease, Have you tried Cow and Gate comfort?
When Jessica was first born, We found C & G normal wasnt filling her, we were feeding her every hour, and didnt wanna try HB due to constipation issues so I read comfort milk was a little thicker than normal and generally filled them better without causing constipation so I put her on that, shes been on it ever since. We dont have any probs with reflux or constipation now. I would say try that. Its specifically for Constipation and colic so it wont do your little one any harm.
Just have to say his nappies will STINK though and it will be quite soft as its supposed to for constipation, dont worry though, it does get better, also you may need medium flow teats as comfort milk is a bit thicker than normal formula and he may struggle to get it out with a slow flow teat. We use Boots own bottles with Avent medium flow teats, works a treat for her.
Hope it works for you x

Thanks. He has managed to keep his bottles down through the night so will see how he goes today. Maybe yesterday was just due to the change from HB to normal again?? But if it continues I'll give the comfort a go. Can they stay on it indefinately or just for a short period of time??

They can stay on it indefinately, (just as normal formula) up to 1 year old. I plan to keep Jess on it anyway as shes perfectly happy with it. :)

Thanks! I put him on comfort today, and he has poo'd 3 times already! He does seem quite unsettled tonight but I guess it'll take a few days for him to get used to it. Usually he goes straight down after his feed at bathtime, not tonight tho :/

Dont worry too much, it will take a few days for him to adjust but it will settle down

Comfort milk made my lo sooo much worse!! Perservered with it for 6 weeks n bubs got steadily more unsettled, sick n upset. I then rang my hv (she was on hol, got a diff one) who told me to change him bk 2 normal formula as comfort can give some babies upset tummies like diaorrea (sp?) but all babies are different it's just trial n error I think hun good luc. Xx

Well I could be wrong, but I think comfort formula could be my saviour!!! lol He slept well last night, not been sicky (touch wood!!) More frequent stinky poos, but not green and not like water either. He has been constipated so I'm sure this will be a relief fo him!

How long does it take for poo's to get a bit firmer or will they stay runny whilst on comfort??

Aww that's good news Hun, fingers crossed this is it!! My Los poos were always v runny but it didn't agree with him so the others may be different. Really glad it's helping Hun xxx

My Lo`s nappies are still runny, but not like water, just not firm which is because its reduced lactose and to aid constipation, and if baby isnt constipated, it will be runny. I asked my HV about this and was told its normal. It has firmed up ever so slightly but not much and she has been on it since 2 weeks old. She poos once a day and sometimes it can be like an explosion (lol!) but I was told this is normal for comfort.

Well he def seems happier anyway, his BM are now just slightly looser than they were before the problems started. Explosion is the right word, he's the same!! lol

Thanks for all the advice, it has worked wonders :flow: x
