Sleeping too much

My 9 week old baby sleeps too much 22 hrs every 24hr therefore only half awake for feeds and goes back to sleep - literally awake 2hrs or less thats all and crying to get back to sleep. Initially Jaundice so expected to be sleepy and now hole in heart so maybe that efforts sleep. I know he is growing but he isnt alert like other newborns just sleeps constantly.

Has anyone had this problem? What was the outcome?

Im really worried this cant be normal just worried whats wrong.....

How early was he? What hes doing sounds normal to me.

Sounds pretty normal to me. While they are sleeping, they are growing. Babies, especially preemies, don't have an awful lot of stamina. Feeding takes a lot out of them. As long as he is feeding enough, let him sleep and enjoy the peace.

Abby slept 3 hours at a time and was awake for about 45 minutes then went back to sleep. She did this until she was about 4 months when she slept longer in the night and slept 2 hours at a time and was up for an hour. That lasted til she was about 8 months.

Sounds normal to me too, and this heat will make them tired too.
