hey, my son is allergic to cows milk the doctors think.
so im on soya milk sma. can it be kept the same way as normal formula, also i read u can leave a untouched bottle out for 4-5 hours and 24 hrs in the fridge...is this right???

also dr brown bottles, they seem to leak when i mix the formula, help!!!

Hi can't comment on the soya as don't use it but with the Dr Brown's bottles they can leak as they are not air tight. This is why they work so well as they stop air getting into the bottle then into your baby's tummy. Best thing to do with them is not to fill them above the fill line and swirl the formula around to mix it (don't shake!) before you put the teat/lid on. Don't shake them or tilt them once the bottle is made up or they will leak X

I mix the forumla in a TT bottle then transfer it to the Dr browns. How is he on the soya? Milk protein intolerant babies react to soya alot of the time too, my HV also said that soya is not reccomended for babies under 6 months, you want to ask for a hypoallergenic formula xx

Yes, as OP said you can get a hypo-allergenic formula, often on prescription from your doctor which might be free so would save you money! Best to avoid soya if you can as it has natural oestrogens in it which have been suggested can affect sexual development. I wouldn't worry about giving him soya for a short time though but it is worth mentioning it to your doctor next time you visit X

My son has been put on aptamil pepti formula as he is lactose intolerant, we get it on prescription so it is saving us a fortune, we were told that young babies can't take soya or goats milk. You should ask about aptamil pepti

my lo was going to go on soy formula but the doctor said that its not recomened for boys under 6 months theres lots of info on the net so hes going a prescription forumla! x

hes been on nutramigen and hes really bad on that.
i think hes allergic to the fish in the formula. ive managed to put him on sma gold, which is really good.

Glad you'e found a formula that agrees with him! And yes the fish oil in formula is a real pain. They could get the DHA from veggie sources - algae - not fish which would be much easier for babies to deal with but they go with the fish - very annoying!
