smiley face in the evening the temp rise next day??

Help!! I started using ovulation packs again but im confused as bbt too. I tested the evening of 8th april and test was negative then i tested afternoon of the 9th I got my smiley so we dtd. When i woke up today i took my temp and it had risen? So i must have ovulated the day i got the smiley.
Do you think we got have caught the egg?? I think iv ovulated early for the first time ever!!! Argh
