SMP..... Are they doing it wrong?

I got paid this month and for some reason over 50 less than last month and that prompted me to look back at previous months pay and I realised I'd been getting varied amounts!

I thought that as SMP is either 90% of your weekly earnings or SMP rate whichever is the lower that surely my pay would be the same amount every month as my wage amount doesn't change so neither should the amount of SMP I get!

Does that make any sense? I'm just panicked because i've known the company I work for to get it monumentaly wrong before!

could it be because smp is calculated weekly?

where as your salary is monthly? annual divided by 12.. same amount each month...

Mine differs from month to month...it depends on how many weeks are in that month. Obvs a 4 week month will be less than a 5 week month!

I too got confused with this.

I agree, it'll depend on how many weeks in the month there is.
I rang the finance dept! And they explained all to me

mine was the same when i had callum, never the same amount each month.

Thank you ladies, that makes a lot of sense :dohh:

Feel like a right melon now lol, i just assumed that because they have cocked up a lot in the past that they had done it again lol

x

I was wondering the same thing to as I ha like an extra £84 in my pay this month
