Sniffing babies

I know this might sound a little weird but my OH reckons babies heads and necks have the best smell in the world and he can't wait to sniff ours, a bit like the grandad in Everybody loves Raymond.

We looked on the internet to see if there was any reason for this and found it could be an instinct thing. Men are supposedly more sensitive to this smell that newborn babies have to make them want to protect them.

Does anyone else's OH talk about sniffing babies?

My aunt goes on about the smell of a newborn baby and how you shouldnt ruin it with all the baby products lol

I read in my book that it's the oils that are naturally secreted from around the fontanelle. I like the smell x

I guess I have never spent that much time with a newborn to notice.

I do know that I read a study where women were able to pick out the clothing their newborn was wearing when asked to pick it out from others, just from smelling it.

I read about a similar study online which said women could do that but also one that said when given a selection of shirts and asked to pick their favourite smelling, women picked the freshly washed ones but men picked the ones a newborn baby had spent a night sleeping in.
