my best friend had her baby boy last week. She wanted to try bfeeing and i have been helping and encouraging her, she has been doing really well. I was with her last wednesday when the MW visited, and as he was latching really well she didn't stay long but said she would be back in 2 days.

so anyway thursday he didn't do any wet or dirty nappies and so she rang the mw to ask for advice. The mw told her the earliest she could get out to see her was the following Monday!!!!:growlmad: im still so angry, no wonder women give up when there is f*^K all support! he could have been starving, its disgusting, i know she could have gone to the GP but what is the f*^ing mw for?! so she started topping him up and he started producing wet nappies and he seems to be needing less top ups now as her supply is coming in.

sorry to rant i just really feel like she has been let down badly, first time mum, god i remember what it was like, luckily my mw visited every day for the first week otherwise i would have prob given up too!

wow that's awful that she wouldn't see her :(

Sadly this seems to be the case too aften. :( A good friend of mine came away from hospital already FF when she wanted to BF. They gave her bad advice and little support. I wont go into the details but it pissed me off big time - they let her down yet the are the first to ram it down peoples throats given the opportunity. :trouble:

Oh god that is awful...i struggled so much the 2nd night i was home. I was in tears, I rang the midwife centre and they arranged for my midwife to come out first thing in the morning. If I didn't get the support I might have given up.

it's disgraceful, they encourage it...then aren't there to help and support. us first time Mums need the help, we're all still learning.

^^ I see your from Rugby lucy_lu did you have lo in walsgrave? how did you find the midwives there and were they supportive?

I can't believe some midwives, they can be so insensitive and unhelpful
