So I'm 30% effaced?!

Well girls I went to the doctor and it turns out I'm not dialated at all, but I'm 30% effaced. I'm also only 28w4d! I'm really worried I'm going to go into preterm or something.
Any one else get effaced this early? And what exactly does being effaced do?

I'm sure it's the cervix thinning out, it will then start to open. Most people who get this early will get put on bedrest, it doesn't always mean preterm labour, but tbh it's always a factor, was the midwife not concerned with anything else? x

Well my doctor told me to not have sex, and to drink plenty of fluids. But she also said she isn't worried unless I get 80% effaced. I'm worried because I keep having bad period cramps; and they keep blowing it off like its nothing, but I have this horrible sick feeling in my stomach that she's going to come early.

I'd really take it easy with the cramping, I'd also go see another doctor or midwife tbh the period pains don't sound too good but they might be more in your head? I had contractions a few days before I had my LO and I kept thinking they were worse than they were with fear! x

Thanks girls! Im definitely thinking of getting a second doctors opinion, as preemies run in my family (I was born at 32 weeks) so it worries me even more

I think you should really rest and not stress. And also get a second opinion!
