So upset and confused! HELP!!

Firstly sorry if this is in the wrong section, i duno where it would fit in.

I got my first on thursday nite, but yesterday I was having sharp pains low down on my left side, felt similar to the pain i get with my PCOS. I went up to the hospital last nite, they did 2 urine tests which came back negative, i asked them to re-do them to be certain, another 2, negative.
So she took some blood to be sure. Blood came back with my HCG levels at 36.
She said 25 was borderline and anything beneath it would be negative, (so surely 36 would be positive, i thought???) she said she was confident i wasnt preg and sent me on my way. I bought two tests on my way home from hospital, and both said I was preg and I was 1-2 weeks.
I dunno what to think, anyone got any advice for me please.

Hi Hun,
Sorry to hear this, they can be so insensitive at the hospital at times. It may be that it is just really early days for you. The pain could be implantion be just be on the look out for any symptoms of an ectopic. Your hcg should start doubling every 48 hrs , what have the hospital told you to do? Do you have to go back? As I say hopefully things will settle down and you will be back on track x

Hospital told me to go to my gp and see about getting my bloods taken again. I know this sounds silly, I`ve never been preg but i really feel like i am, I feel like somethings going on in there. Even my hubby is convinced that the hosp have got it wrong. gonna try and get an appointment for doc on monday and see about getting a retest on bloods.

Hi,
I think you must be pregnant as otherwise your hcg would be nearer 0. It could be that the hospital tests are less sensitive so don't pick up a positive until say 50 hcg. I think unfortunately all you can do now is wait for it to increase. How many days post ovulation are you?

i did another test tonight. It was a tesco`s own brand. I thought id try another one rather than the clear blue incase it was super sensitive.
The tesco`s one gave me the faintest pink line. I mean like so faint u can just see it. so obv the HCG levels are raised for it to pick it up.
Although maybe the doc at hospital is rite. She said about the egg could of been fertilized but failed to develop.

The cramps could be stretching pains lots of ladies get them and although worrying and painful they are a symptom.
You wouldn't get lines on the tests if you had no HCG in your system. I think it's probably early days and things will pick up over the next few days

do u think its possible for what the hospital said? that the egg was fertilized but didnt develop. The only thing is I havent had a bleed, or any spotting, or even any unusual discharge. I def feel pregnant, but just dont wanna get my hopes up for us to be let down.
Iv read some reviews online, and not one person has said that clear blue has gave them a false positive.
really dunno what to think

Hunny I've only just seen this thread! do you have any more news? The fact your HCG was 36 at the hospital would lead me to think you are pregnant. Agree with Oneday though about looking out for symptoms of an ectopic (really hope it's not but you need to be aware of this). I have heard of falsies on clearblue blue dye tests but not on digi tests (you said it said 1-2 week so assuming it must have been a digi) so think things are looking hopeful.

Just seen this post too. Hope you managed to get a Dr apt today and that they can put your mind at ease more. It doesn't make sense that the hosp told you that you couldn't be pg if your HCG was lower than 25 but that you read 36 and they still told you it was neg. I've got everything crossed for you that things are OK.

I know it's far more likely that you'd get a false negative than a false positive so hopefully your doc will pick up raised HCG levels since you went to the hospital.

Oh hun I am so sorry you are going through this. i know how terrifying and emotionally draining it is. When i found out i was pregnant i was convinced it was ectopic as my tubes were diagnosed as blocked. Luckily that was not the case but I understand how painful it is not knowing. For me it was the worst feeling in the world. All I can say is that when i went for my scan i was a whole week less pregnant than i thought i was and i definitely ovulated on time. It can take a very long time for the egg to implant sometimes and that is what happened to me. I did have a bit of an obsticle course to get through though. You embryo may only just have implanted as well, hense the sharp pains as the embryo starts to burrow and bed in, and still has very low levels. If the embryo has just implanted your hcg levels would only be between 5 and 50 anyway. Maybe the hospital urine tests are only 50 and over. if you test again in a week they should begin to be over 50. I would have thought the staff would know that a hcg level of 36 indicates pregnancy. I think there is still a lot to be positive asbout. Just take it really easy the next few days and go back to your doctor to get your levels checked again as if its a viable pregnancy the levels will double every few days. Keep us updated as we will be thinking and about you.

Thanks girls. I went to the doctor today and tolf her all what happened at the hospital. I took my first pee of the day to her and asked her to test it. She said that the testing they do in the surgery isnt as sensitive as the home kits so is sending it away to have a more sensitive test done. I asked her to do my bloods again, to see what the HCG levels where today, hoping they would have rised from friday. She said she wanted to wait until wednesday and do them instead because apparently it can be slower rise rate due to my PCOS, I find it all very confusing and dont really understand it all. But all I can do is wait and see.

She put me on FOlic Acid 5MG. the pharmacist was abit concerned cause apparently the average for a first time pregnancy is 400 mcg. I assume the doc is just taking it as a pre-caution.

Its just a hateful situation cause I dunno whether I can class myself as pregnant or not

Awww hun what a horrible, horrible situation to be in For what it's worth, I think that you are pregnant, I mean you've had no AF and countless + preg tests. Your GP said that the tests in surgery aren't as sensitive - perhaps this is the same at the hospital??

When will you get your urine sample results back? And your bloods that your having done on Wed? In the meantime, have you done anymore HPT??

I would say you are pregnant. Even your Hcg levels show positive (anything above 7, I think). Perhaps, what the nurse should have said was that your levels are still very low, but you are indeed pregnant. It would be nice to know if your numbers are doubling. I would do another Clear Blue that shows the weeks...see if it goes up, or wait until Wednesday. Anyways, in my non-expert opinion, you ARE pregnant. I am just a little concerned about your numbers, but, there isn't much you can do, so *try* to relax and think good thoughts about your little bean. x0x0

I will hopefully get the urine results at the end of the week. Not to sure about the bloods. I doubt il get them before friday. prob middle of next week. All in iv done 6 preg tests all positive.
My hubby and I were on twoweekwait.com last night looking at the pics of others girls tests, comparing ours to theirs, it was quite interesting to be fair. Girls have took tests everyday over a period of maybe a week or two to let u see the line get darker. We lined ours up to theirs and it looks like they seem to be matching 10 DPO. I did my clear blue digi test last thursday so il wait til then and do it again and hopefully it`ll be up

I hope the numbers double up and i def think you are pregnant. Some girls dont even show signs of preganancy 10dpo. Its good your gp has u on folic acid, 400 is the norm and if there is escess folic acid in ur system your body will discrete it every day. There is no chance of overdose or anything like that. Cant wait to hear ur results again.

I have now offically decided I am classing myself as pregnant. Im fed up wondering, so im now in the mind set that I am and if the blood levels dont rise rite or whatever then I`ll deal with it then if that time comes. Im not gonna stress myself out anymore, coz if all is well then my poor baby doesnt need me freaking out, esp so early on.

So untill proven otherwise Im convinced I`m preg. And if it turns that it was an early mc, then I have to look at the positive and look at the fact that now I know I can acutally get preg.

May regret this state of mind if things dont go my way, but lifes to short to be freaking myself out.

Strongly worded letter would take too much time. I`ll just go up and say it to their face. Sometimes I really wonder how they even get jobs, eps when its dealing with ppls lives. ARRGGGHHHH!! dont get me started. lol

Sorry! I think anything over 25 is pg, when I got my first back it was just like 22 or something. I was so worried! When I had the 2nd one done, it was like 86! Granted I ended up having twins-I hope you get good news soon!
