Hi all i finally thought id get around to writing my birth story.
I was due for an induction on the 29th august which would have been 3 days after my due date as baby was measuring very big above average and was giving me breathing problems. So on sunday the 19th me and hubby
trying to bring baby on thinking it would fail like it usually does when we decided to go for a walk down tesco before 4pm to get some juices before it shut, so i go bathroom in tesco and i realise ive lost my plug which i thought nothing much of as i know it can happen weeks before birth but then the odd twitches which id been having for about a week starts to become quite uncomfortable. We went home and it seemed like i was wetting myself all of a sudden.
After about an hour i realised it was my waters leaking so we went to the hospital a few hours later, by now i was experiencing painful contractions in my pelvis and vaginal area i thought not much of it as i still wasnt convinced i was in labour. I then went to get checked and i was between 2-3 cm though more of a 2, so i was sent home. Within 20 minutes of arriving home i was getting 4 contractions every 5 minutes lasting over 2 minutes 30 each so i went back to the hospital by the time i arrived it was about 11pm i was checked again and still at 2cm the pains were comming stronger though so they put me on a ward instead of sending me home.
I tried to get some sleep on the ward but by 1am the pains were not stopping at all and the midwife did not leave the emergancy bell near me i was in too much pain to stand up or sit up to get my drink so i resorted to screaming and begging for help until the midwife come in, she then made me feel like a naughty child who had never experienced pain before and felt my stomach and told me i wasnt in labour, though she had to check my dialation anyway, she was mistaken and i was 5cm within the hour, after much more attitude on her half she reluctantley sent me back down to labour suite.
I was on gas and air in the bed on labour suits alone until about 2.00am alone before my husband and mother arrived back at hospital (my sister was meant to be at the birth but she hurt her foot so my mother nicely offered to take over for a second time). After more gas and air and an amazing midwife named Louise who didnt check my dialation but instead decided to let my body tell me when she was ready to come i pushed Sofia-Anne into the world at 3.09am on 20th august 2012 weighing 8lb 1 oz (not overweight at all like the hospital had said) She has a full head of jet black hair and blue eyes. I had only 3 stitches and we were discharged by 6pm the same day
