Hi everyone, its only my second cycle ttc, but after reading some threads on here I have decided to do a little extra to help mother nature, especially since it is likely that DH may have some sperm issues (he has low testosterone). We have the form from the GP to go and get a sperm analysis done, but as my fertile time is fast approaching, we wont have the results by then, and I want to optimize our chances

So this morning I have gone online and purchased soft cups and preseed. Would love to hear any experiences, advice and tips when using these??

TIA xx

I bought them last cycle after reading such positive reviews. I used one only once on the day of ovulation. I was so scared to put it in but if you follow the directions it really was easy. You HAVE to be sitting down and the trick is to push it down and back. It didn't work for this cycle but I am CD1 and will try again next cycle. I've read mixed reviews about WHEN to put it in. Some have said to lay down for 10-20 minutes and then put it in and some have put in in right away.

Does some sperm get trapped under the cup if you put it in wrong? And there is obviously some leakage before putting it in, does that matter at all?

Hmm I've read diff reviews too, one theory was to get dh to deposit directly into the cup and then put it in?? Not much fun there tho 🙊. I'm thinking I will practice putting it in before I actually need it, then maybe try a couple of diff ways during our bedding days. X

I have also purchased some soft cups for this month. We have been ttc for 8 months now and was just trying to let it happen but we're going to see if trying to help them little swimmers along will give us our bfp. I'm on cycle day 6 today and have used them for af light days and actually really like them for what they are really intended for. They were a little intimidating when I seen how big they were but actually work nicely. I used to use nuvaring so it was pretty easy to figure out for me. I haven't bought the preseed to use with it as read mixed reviews about it and that you really don't need it if you produce enough cm yourself, which I do. I hope this will work for all of us this month! Fx

Although there will generally be agreement and disagreement with anything someone does when TTC soft cups wont work and i'll tell you why. Not to say there wont be plenty of people who swear by them :)

When you're ovulating your cervix is open slightly to allow sperm to pass through to fertilize the egg. If you have paid attention you have probably realized that this means less cum on the sheets, your underware etc than when not ovulating. Whatever sperm passes beyond the cervix is in there and on it's way to the egg BUT whatever is NOT in there wont make it in. So the softcups are simply trapping sperm that wasn 't going to make it past.

Now as a side note like Mum to 5/6 said IF DH deposits into the cup and then it's inserted that might make a difference, but remember ejaculation happens at high speeds partly to get the sperm past the cervix so i'd think maybe you'd have to physically stand on your head to get it in ? i dont know there :)

In IUI (and the reason it works) a tube is inserted past your cervix so that all the sperm is deposited behind it, there is no to a tiny amount of sperm that leaks out because it's all past the cervix.

Now the preseed I dont see any harm in using or not using. However also dont be fooled into thinking CM is an indicator of being able to or not able to get pregnant. Often times there's CM at or beyond the cervix as well and just because you dont feel or see it doesn't mean it's not there :) In the case of the preseed, i say why not :)

I used these last time and got bfp first month sadly ended in mmc( nov 2012 )so trying again this month same method I'm sure preseed helps and soft cups unsure as the rate sperm gets ejected is enough to get the ones that will make it up there tho can't hurt and being able to move around after dtd without making a mess isn't that bad lol

I don't know a thing about this soft cup thing but have bought and used Pre-Seed. I read reviews before buying and saw that many women advise not to use the recommended amount as it's way too much. I fill the applicator to the first or second line and be careful and hold the applicator upside down when it's full because the lube can drip out! It's much more natural feeling than other lubricants, not sticky, and my partner likes it as well. It wasn't the "miracle lube" for us, but haven't been using it religiously. Might try it every time we :sex: this month though, since I'm not doing anything else now (BBT, OPK or FF). If you haven't already, I suggest using Fertility Friend, as well as charting your basal body temperature and using ovulation tests to really pinpoint your optimal time. I learned so much about my body and cycles... but the downside for me was that it added stress and anxiety so after a few months of that I decided to relax. Good luck! :dust:

I've been using PreSeed the last few cycles, no success yet but doesn't hurt to increase the chances. I use SoftCups both ways: sperm already inside and then inserted the SoftCup to prevent leakage and then had DH deposit into the cup and insert it into me. No success yet, but I like the cups for the fact it isn't so messy afterwards!
