So, she LOVES pureed foods and baby cereals. She can't get enough of them. Any kind, any flavor, doesn't matter. She really enjoys them. She does have 2 teeth and is constantly interested in everything we eat and drink. We've tried on several occasions now to give her things like baby puffs, cherrios, those yogurt bites that dissolve. She won't have them, at all. She has total control over her picher grasp and picks them up, plays with them, puts them in her mouth but then makes the most disgusted face ever and pops it right back out of her mouth!!! Is there something else I should try? Thoughts? Ideas? Thanks in advance!!

We have been doing a mix of baby led weaning and purees. Emilia often has weetabix for breakfast, sometimes with banana. She also has toast, either just with butter or sometimes with bovril or houmous. We often give her sandwiches too, such as cream cheese, or salmon and cream cheese or egg mayonnaise.

We found she wanted what we were eating, so gave it to her. Has got me cooking more so I know what we have is ok ingredients wise for her.

tomorrow we are trying chicken and veg korma!

My LO is also 6 months, has two teeth, and we recently started weaning too! My LO will eat ANYTHING though, but I'm still a bit paranoid.. So I bought this feeder, and so far I absolutely LOVE it!

Usually I'll give her some steamed green beans, which she will gum, her purées, and this thing with a bit of whatever is suitable that are having. I don't have to worry about her choking and it gives her much, much more variety!

Are you talking about the little net looking thing with the handle on it? I almost picked one up yesterday and then changed my mind. Maybe I will go back and get one. Thanks!

There's a link (to amazon) I posted in my original post, but it's the same concept as the mesh feeder, but made of silicon! It's a bit more pricey then the regular mesh, but easier to clean and thus mo sanitary! I love it!

Outside of fruits and vegetables what else can I put in this mesh thing? Are things like macaroni and cheese or pasta okay? My boys were never picky eaters so I feel completely lost!

At 6 months, she can try anything that isn't a choking hazard. Bananas and avocados are easy early foods as are egg and soft meats like fish and liver. Of course there are lots more fruits, meats, and (well cooked) veggies that are great for baby!

At 6 months, you don't need any devices. You can just give your kid properly sized pasta and even give bits of cheese. Just cube it up and serve!

Thanks. I stopped and picked up one of those mesh feeder things. I like the idea of frozen fruit for when her teeth seem to really be bothering her. I am going to try and do the tiny bites of baby safe food and if it doesn't work still I will try the mesh feeder until she is more ready. I don't want to rush her if she really isn't interested. I just wanted to give her something outside of the purees...... I tried cherrio again and she seemed to real like it tonight? Maybe that's a good sign and she will try more things now. Thank you ladies. :flower:

Ooo, frozen fruit in a feeder. That's a good idea. As for trying cheerios and it working one day, but not the previous, not all babies are ready for food at 6 months. All you can do is offer when the baby seems ready, and keep tying and eventually your baby will be weaned.

I have the total opposite problem. My son does not like purees much. I've been dipping those "Baby Mum Mum's" rice snacks into them so he can pick it up because he will not be spoon fed. Plus he eats avocado, banana etc...

As for the mesh feeders, he LOOOOVVVES to have one of those with plain ice in it. He's getting a lot of teeth pretty early and it's been a life saver sometimes. I tried it with banana in it and he was not a fan.

It is so interesting how different they all are. I have all the fruit soaking in water/vinegar right now. Might try some blueberries tomorrow. The ice is an interesting idea too, I like it!
