https://www.bhta.net/site/351/default.aspx has some useful links for those who might want help in purchasing equipment - have a lookie :) They include WhizzKidz and RADAR...

There is also a company out there that makes equipment as a one-off that might not be produced main-stream - remap.

Finally, I recommend obtaining a RADAR key from your local council - it will give you access to a disabled toilet.

https://www.youreableshop.co.uk/product/small-radar-key-for-disabled-toilets-TV1060.html also sells them for about £2-3.

MrBum, do you have to recieve DLA or something of the like to get a radar key? I know Tegan's not big enough to need one yet but just wanted to know in advance!

Also, if we find out that she needs catheterising at every nappy change do you think that would warrant the use of the disabled toilet? Just thinking that sometimes it takes ages, and is VERY fiddly and I can't just put her on the floor in the general loo's if there no baby changing (which there often isn't) because of foreign bugs etc (I just wipe the floor with er.. dettol.. ) and maybe taking her in disabled toilet would make more sense? Hmm I dunno!

Thanks for this :)

You dont need to be on DLA, we normally order them off the website

Yes I would think it would warrent using the toliet xx

You don't need DLA to buy a RADAR key... disabled loos don't always share with a baby change so whilst your little one is little, I'd recommend using the baby change facilities where possible... once she is walking/running/too big, I'd suggest using the disabled loo until she's old enough to take herself.

I dunno if my list of links should be stickied or whatever - I've added in the RADAR key site too... Mods?

I always seem to end up using the disabled loo with Bethanie, because there is 1 loo in the whole of town that me and bethanie fit in (a special mum+baby loo) but even that isn't big enough. It is a joke!

More from Mr Bum...

I am on a transport committee with a county council and have been informed today about the DfT blue badge reforms consultation: https://www.dft.gov.uk/transportforyou/access/bluebadge/bluebadgereform/

Have a look as it might or might not affect some people later on in life and can often have some useful information.

Also, I have found today my leaflet about dimensions of wheelchairs for public transport (buses/trains)... this is important as there are maximum dimensions for a wheelchair on board buses and trains which you do need to bare in mind when obtaining a wheelchair - I'll put a link up to the pdf scan when I've done it....
