Hi ladies

I really hope someone can help me ... basically I had the copper coil fitted a few weeks ago after being on several other hormol contraceptives and none of them suiting me. Having it fitted was quite painful and afterwards I had stomach pains but since then I've not had a period or any type of bleeding I was going to mention this and the many pther symptoms I've had since having it fitted (heavy discharge specially after having sex, constantly feeling bloated, not being able to feel the strings) however yesterday I started with awful pain which came in waves n was going all the way to my back then after an hour n half it disappeared n I got a dull ache low in my belly which if I stood up stretched coughed or laughed it got worse I've also noticed when I sit down I get a pain from my bum to my belly n when I first stand up I feel like my bum is gonna fall out !!!

I've rung the nurse n got an appointment tomorrow afternoon to get it checked as she thinks ive either passed it or its on its way out but has anyone else experienced this ?? This pain is awful never experienced anythin like it n I don't know what to do. I've had the mirena coil before n had no problems apart from it containing hormones so this is a shock.

If the doctor suggests having a new one fitted if this one has gone or is falling out would you have another fitted ???? Someone please help :-(

xxx

Big hugs hun... :hugs:

Personally, I wouldn't - but I have issues with the thought of something being in me. Several of my friends have had the IUD- and claim it's great! I just cannot bring myself to do it. And, since the pill (for me) works well and I have no side affects- other than no period (hello!)- I am sticking with what works.

It would seem the copper coil is basically the same as the IUD- I believe that is what my friend had years ago- and she ended up with an infection and having it removed. Then years later, after her daughter was born- she got the IUD (with the hormones- since they are centrally located and don't cause the same issues as the pill)- she could never use the pill either.

I wish there were some better alternatives... maybe at least take a break if this one is removed (which it sounds it will be) and discuss with hubby and go from there.

Sorry I can't tell you what to do-- and sorry it's been causing you pain. Just do what you feel is best for your situation hun. Best of luck!!!!!

I would have another but i havent had your experience. My coil caused some initial bleeding and discomfort, cramps and dull back ache which last 3-4 weeks and since then I have been fine. Not a symptom in sight! It totally depends on personal experience though and if you feel there are better alternatives. I cant have the IUP as it sent me crazy and im terrible at remembering the pill.
